Ay there's not one on extremes motor either:nenau
So it's obviously some stupid thing put on there just to P me off!
GRRR

looks like all the td's have a similar set up on the turbo pipe. they must have put it on the early tdi's just after the intercooler ...... looks like the problem is solved then

Looks like theres 2 more parts on yours then ours.

tried undoing the one on adz one and it ran shit.... but i recon its set up reversed on his one

ie yours is set open without hose on , his one opens it, so closed if removed

Hi all, mine has one and it seems to run in conjunction with the maff sensor as if it is a mechanical maff, when i took mine for an mot some years ago, they failed it because of black smoke belching out of the exhaust " it was ok going in for mot" and when i looked to find the problem i found the small bolt had snapped on the actuator that worked the butterfly flap on that unit, so when i enquired at the nissan dealer they had never seen one and where puzzled by the added unit, so its still on and working i assume.

rustygates.

Cheers for that rusty, perhaps you'd like to come a bit south for a play one weekend!:augie
Then we could compare offroad notes:sly

That is the throttle control valve that works in conjunction with the EGR valve to alter the intake air pressure.

so why is it giving him massive turbo lag then jeremy

removing the hose (disabling it) leaves the airway fully open

does it need to close it ? it works better open fully full time

So could I have some underlying fault with the EGR and or the Turbo/actuator/waste gate:nenau

Not 100% on the operation but I would imagine when ticking over it would be closed and EGR fully open you should see it open when revving the engine there are 3 stages of EGR determined by the ECU for low engine speed low power requirements etc. It could be that it is late in opening when accelerating, this could be a number of things from a split vac pipe to the ECU thinking the engine speed is lower than it actually is. It wont hurt to disable it leaving it fully open and also disable the EGR valve at the same time.

If the waste gate was open all the time you would have no turbo boost and it would be flat as a pancake, you should be able to check the valve on the turbo will move with a spanner levering it rearward, it should be fairly hard to move against the spring and should close freely under its own tension.

he has plenty of boost now he did before it was just very late. but this seems to have fixed it.

can you show him where the egr valve is so he can disable that too

also turbo looks fine and waste gate

oh and the thing we disabled seems to work exactly as you described it:bow:bow:bow

Cheers Jeremy I'll be sticking a spanner right up it first thing in the morning:sly
Also dissmember the EGR while I'm there:naughty

You only need to block the pipe to the EGR valve to stop it from opening as in workshop download. You shouldn’t need to rip it to bits if its closed.

Fantastic, at last I feel like we're getting there:thumbs
Having taken virtually every other ruddy thing to bits :lol

could be the valve worn and only opening when loads of pressure,,, but id still be inclined to leave it off

now can i put a damper on my steering

cos i broke it again.
makes me sick i drive like miss Daisey and break it, you drive like a c=ock and jump over everything and yours is good every time
