Whats it worth?

I've got a 2001 SWB Terrano 2.7 SE, Electric windows and sunroof, with 87,000miles on it. Has a bit of rust on the arches (but not showing and been treated) and sills are showing signs of rust (one sport at the back you can poke through but the rest solid). It starts and runs well has Maxxis Mudder Buckshot all round. Its in ok condition (few marks on paint work) and has full service history but wouldn't say it was immaculate, its been used by a family for shooting, fishing, dogs (though always in cage in back) etc...

I need to sell as I want a double cab for the family.

Just failed its MOT on front CV joint gater, 2 anti roll bar links, drag link end ball joint, and sticky caliper on ns front caliper.

Also has advisories for: fuel lines and brake hose ferrules.

Just trying to figure out if its worth sorting it out and getting through MOT or whether I just try and sell it without. Garage thnks final bill could be £500 and I checked parts out reckon about £100-£200 worth of parts depending on whether you need to buy a recon caliper. They seem to still be fetching very good money and this has been the most reliable car I have ever owned, its been brilliant. I think if I got it sorted could sell it for £1500 but not sure?

Out of interest, I have owned a few double cabs and I wouldn't swap my T2 for one, in fact I sold the last two we owned and bought another T2 instead! which one are you thinking of getting?

Seems to be a bit of a trend developing here!

Just yesterday I traded my 2004 T2 3.0l LWB auto for a Navara double cab pretty much for the same reasons as you Tim - shooting, fishing, mountain bikes etc.
Admittedly my Terrano is taxed, tested and in reasonable all round nick, but I decided to bite the bullet before the old girl did start costing more to keep going.

Don't get it until I get home from offshore in a couple of weeks, but can't wait to get hold of it!!

I'm really going for double cab for 2 reasons, I run my own business so I can put a double cab against the business and get pretty much 100% tax relief (as far as I can gather from the ridiculously complicated set of regulations set out by our insane government) and I go away shooting with 3 spaniels for a few nights at a time in the winter so would be good to use the double cab as a mobile home for them. Otherwise I wouldn't be doing it. Think I've made my mind up to get it sorted so its right for the next person as its a good truck and I thought it was going to sale through.

I can't comment on a hilux as I have never owned one, but:

L200 - noisy slow, huge turning circle, neither a good car or a good truck 18mpg if you are lucky!

Ford Ranger, quicker, more economical, probably the best ride of all the crew cabs out there. But huge turning circle and unconvincing off road, again neither a good car or a good truck (same goes for Mazda they are the same truck.

Navara, quicker than the others, nice enough but the same huge turning circle and again a poor car/truck compromise. Early ones had terrible engine problems later ones yet to be proven. If you're buying new and under warranty - go for it!

these are not intended as criticisms just my own observations from ownership :thumb2

I think I would be going ford ranger if they didn't look so gawky. L200 seems to be popular but no one particularly happy with them. Been told not to touch new or old navaras just too much hassle. So think my options are Isuzu Rodeo or Hilux, both probably the most expensive out of all of them .

never had a Rodeo either so can't comment on them but I would give it a go it the opportunity arose :thumb2

had a navara D22 nice looking truck but as plank says huge turning circle i found back seats where like sitting on a park bench and we struggled to get car seats in only two that liked it were our two labradores ideal as you said to use as a mobile home for the dogs we did when we took the caravan with us had a alpha gte truck top on with two side sliding windows:thumbs

It's the turning circle that puts me right off, I tow a lot of very large caravans and find reversing into tight spots and pulling out of tight spots is a nightmare with a vehicle that corners like a narrow boat :nenau

i have had a few Isuzu's including a 3.1 the same shape, and believe me your turning circle is astounding compared to a crew cab truck :thumb2
