I have the same as Elton. Been used Hard for nearly 3 years been submerged countless times and still as good as when it was new and wireless remotes are a god send.. Def buy 13000lb ones as a terrano belly deep in thick mud you wanna make sure you got enough to pull it out easily.. you'll also need to make sure your charging system is good and Ya battery is tip top as they will draw a lot of power. I bought the winch with the tray as made life alot easier fitting it. It's amazing what you'll use it for. I had to pull my new caravan through a very narrow gate way and would have been very difficult to tow it out as had an inch spare each side. This way I could be right there making sure I didn't touch the sides and rip the side outta my caravan. Def worth fitting and buy the strongest and beat one you can afford

Cheers Mark :thumb2 winch-it winch it is, seems like a few on here have them and that's pretty good endorsement :D

I have a newish Varta battery and no probs with charging system (until now 'cos i said that), will eventually fit a second battery too.

Highly recommended the Winch it guys :thumbs Totally brilliant and very helpful chap :thumb2

Cheers mate :thumb2....I was looking through some other threads on winches and saw you have had a few from him, sent you some wiring or summat!! I like that I'll be buying from a British company too :)

Is there pics in your thread of how you mounted your front one?

Bound to be somewhere. I can put some up from my photo bucket it buggered if I can do it on my phone . What with my fingers and booze and that :lol vi

Bit late to the party  and I generally agree with the excess winch capacity vs truck weight principal but...

Just some food for thought, the winch on my Y61 is only 9000lb and the Trol runs at around 3 ton when she isn't stuck in mud.

I've got a snatch block so I can double up the line if need be but the last time when she bellied in that mud pool it was just a single line pull that took her out and she was bulldozing mud as the winch pulled her out with no issues or stalling etc :nenau

It is a Superwinch though which came up at the right price bought a few years ago so it might be to do with the brand as much as anything else :nenau

That's good to hear as mine I'm about to fit is only 9000lb and I was worried it wasn't going to be strong enough :thumbs

Yeh 9000lbs should be perfectly fine on Terrance bro, just pack a snatch block so you can double the line if you ever need to :thumb2

9000lb tend to be quicker, higher rated winches pull more with different gearing.

9000lb is plenty, as said if proper stuck run a snatch block.

I've ordered a snatch block this morning along with some other stuff, I was thinking about buying a high speed 9500lb winch from warrior but I don't want to spend too much on something I won't use a lot, the 12000lb winch from winch-it is only a little more than the 9500lb one, comes with synthetic rope which I'll upgrade to 12mm on the website before I buy. If I find I use a winchna lot then I'll buy a better one but for now I've other truck stuff to get, like a lokka and man hubs :D

there will be a max you can get on a drum, go thicker means you can put less on.

How much line is enough??

As much as will reach your anchor point and leave a few rolls still on the drum ;)

Get yourself a good selection of straps T-doug in case the nearest tree is a bit away. Last time I winched out I had the thick 2m strap around the tree then 10m and 3m straps before the winch line was hooked up although that was partly because the drum was just below the water level so I couldn't be sure of how much was left on the drum.
