Hi, looking some advice.

My wife drive the T2 nowadays, we live out in the country were the roads are pretty poor and badly surfaced. We get quite a bit of local flooding and in snow we regularly (well, the neighbors ;-) ) get snowed in. My wifes driving would consist of the local roads but also into the nearby cities daily with work. She does quite a lot of milage, c.15-20k a year I'd say.

The old AT's on the car (from when I used it) are done, it'll never see off road again so time to replace them with something more suitable to her use.

I want, descent quality, low road noise and good handling. They'll need to deal with most situations from city roads to country lanes and good water displacement. Plenty of grip in wet/muddy conditions too. She has 16" alloys on it so they need to come in that size.

Not asking much am I? ;-)

What would you suggest?

Get black ones, preferably round, maybe a little flat at the bottom, with squiggly bits were they touch the ground.

But seriously Pirreli scorpions or similar sound up your street, but any branded tyre in the right size should do the job. Think I might be tempted to stay with AT's thoug if I were you, just get one of the milder more road oriented ones rather than the BFG style half mud tyre types. Sort of think Disovery IIs come on.

i have Pirreli scorpions, very good for what your thinking...

tyres

I had a set of Fateo (think that is right) 31.10/50.15 on a vauxhall frontera.

They were A/T but coped under most situations, always got out of the mud, but did not use for anything to extreme.

Ok on the road, wore well and not to noisy.

They were about £240 for a set of four

paulp

I got some cheap KingPins and so far they have been great, but not tested in snow yet.

I quite fancy a set of Cooper Discovered ATR's; they are a road biased AT tyre. Another tyre that I can recommend is the Kumho KL78; thats a 50/50 bias. I had them on my Mav when I went to Spain; 2600 miles, 350 was offroad, theyre dead quiet on the road and can still hold there own offroad.

I put a set of Falken ATs on mine back end of last year. They were great in the snow, good smooth ride for normal road use and very good value for (if I remeber correctly) £240 for a set of 4.

I did over 10 000 on them and still plenty left when I parted with the car :thumb2

I've had Grabber AT2's on it for the last 4 years. Fronts not bad but rears V low, got about 60k out of them so pleased with that, but they're very noisy on the road and give a pretty lumpy drive. Ecellent off road, but not suitable for the use the car now gets.

Will look into some of the others, thanks.

Got sorted with some Scorpion STR's. Cheers.

How much out of interest?

Its amazing how much tyre sizes have changed in terms of price and availability - time was when you couldn't get tyres for the T2 for under a ton a corner, same with my wifes Honda HRV, £120 a corner 4/5 years ago, now I can get very decent tyres for both for around £60!

Now its runflats that are the little stitchup b*stards!!!

Not sure of exact price, about £300 plus VAT I think. Will find out tomorrow when I get them fitted, and get the bill.

do some Pics of what you get in the end..

be good to see

Would recommend the General grabber AT2 any time :thumb2

Have fitted them to both my T2 and Patrol got over 30k on the 2t
before seeing it they still had 40-40% of there life left:)

The patrol has done 10k so far they are doing well, but the patrol
is getting a harder life off road so may change them before there worn
out (side wall damage) is the only reason :nenau:nenau

Ya, had AT2's on 2 T2's, for a more aggressive AT tyre they're hard to beat. But, the ride is not the best on tarmac, they tend to cause the front wheel bearings to come loose more often than others and they're noisy. But if this ain't a problem (it never was when I used the T2) they're gggrrreeat ;-)

Had 50-60k out of both my previous sets so wear is excellent too.

Just realised I've Scorpions on the Navara, so should be grand on the T2.
