Good morning,

Im hoping someone can tell me what this is and what it does and do i need it!?

Maverick 2.7TD (1994)- Air intake leads to a plastic formed box located under the passengers side wheel arch. what on earth is it for???

I have currently removed it (with a view to increased air availability?!) and has certainly had no negative effects as a result.

thanks in advance

its just the air intake tube, runs down to front of car for cold air...id say you DO need it, otherwise your just sucking in warm air from the engine bay,,,???

There is still another intake tube, inside the engine bay, which means that the air is still drawn from the wheel arch and not engine bay. by removing the item in question I have not altered the original air intake point, just allowed another opening (still from wheel arch area0 where this was connected! all very confusing as to what its suppose to do!??

yep, thats what it is...

i dont have on ethough.. iv running under a K&N induction kit..

Any other suggestions?

Could it be a water trap of some description?
or a blanking piece for a different spec engine (petrol maybe?)
???

think you will find it directs air intake away from splash areas inside the wing
