we have a real problem with the screeded floor as it contains no DPM and the treatments available are not compatible with the residue from the parquet block flooring that has been removed, so we have to remove all traces of this black pitch, which is proving difficult as the scabaling machine we first hired was far to aggressive and tore holes in the screed, so have another one coming tomorrow that is more of a finishing grinder time will tell

new mcb panel, it is important in this situation that the whole building is earth leakage protected, but we cannot afford to to lose whole building power if say the the washing machine goes bottom up, so here every area will be individually protected so if say consult one has a fault then only consult one will trip and the rest of the building stays live including the much important computers

view from the window, now you can see the floor joists (these date from 1537) if to be believed, whatever this is going to be an office you can see a tube fitting in the void, now compare this with the first pic of the reception area with the super led lights fitted flush that give a really good light, but for effs sake they want to keep the exposed beams and have loads of tube lights side on, ffs I have so far been unable to convince them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re the poor floor screed, tried a scabling machine but far too harsh, so arrived today a floor finishing device, first time I have seen such a machine, consists of an 18 inch thin metal disc with tungsten bits welded to both sides, you lay this on the floor then position the machine over it then lower it down, the rotating part has a thick rubber mat that just sits on the disk, when you start it up holding the long handle it careers of to the left or right depending if you are slightly lifting or pushing down the handle, took a few minutes to master it, but suffice to say it sort of does the job, no pics I am afraid as left chip behind, will get some tomorrow, Rick

how long do you reckon is left rick ?

Well this is our 7th week on site of a projected 12 week job, but we have been light on the floor this week due to personnel having other commitments, also a key guy is due a weeks holiday week after next, also we have had many added jobs/problems so whilst we should have been finished at end of May it will probably be mid June if just relying on our capability, but there are a host of other suppliers of specialist equipment that could delay opening beyond our control, I am only responsible for the building fabric, specialist stuff like, X ray, SS kennels, Lab equipment etc, many on lead times of 6 weeks or more, so out of my hands, Rick

Looks like it's coming along nicely indeed!! Something I could not do but would love to know how :clap
