what are the black taxis called with 2.7

many years ago at wapping wall in london i and my brother had a fleet of 100 fx4
to keep on the road for the lease company.as the parts were bolt on a running repair could be a dented door/wing etc and if a taxi inspector saw it he would put a stop on the cab so then it would come to us for fast repair then it would have to be fully valeted and taken for plating at taxi mot depot and pass befor it was allowed back on the road as a cab,yes much harder to get than an mot.
it even had to be steamed cleaned under side and bay and greased befor plating.
we always had doors wings sills boot lids bonnets bumpers all repaired and painted ready for fitting.
if i had a bit of time i would repair whatever came in ready to go.
i was body man brother was mechanic.
god knows what it would be like now with all the colours etc,ours were all black on dark red.
those were the days fantastic wages as well.

Black Cabs in Derby.

A firm called Albion Taxis that used to exist in Derby- they had a small fleet of second hand London Black Cabs and their mechanic "Sooty" used to keep them on the road. He said they were easy to fix and very reliable even though they were buying vehicles that had done over 200 k miles in a handful of years.

Back in the early 70's that was quite unusual outside of London, when the son eventually took over the business he sold out after a few years as he found Wedding Car Hire was much easier work for daytime hours !

the early ones ran the 2.7 nissan engine but were not fitted with a turbo but were reliable and basic i have worked on a few with excess off 500 miles in the clock in the past

yeah i put one on mine afew years ago still okay make sure you get the timeing wheel with it i didnt had to make aguess pedal igot of a terrano chassis on that cab is the same as terrano good luck.

fuel pump swop

hi mate sorry for late reply had a problem wifi someones put a 50ft wind turbine on the field afew hundred yds away. any way no photos it was a bit of a rush job to get moter on road i wish i had i would be able to see the wireing changes i made the main one was the fuel shut off sol fitted that to first stage ignition if i remember right. its a diesal,[well mines veggie] so as long as it gets fuel at the time she;ll go. i know i ended up with fair bit of excess wire. but this is a great site to be part of so help is usually best of luck if iremember any thing else ill post it up RAY
