many years ago at wapping wall in london i and my brother had a fleet of 100 fx4
to keep on the road for the lease company.as the parts were bolt on a running repair could be a dented door/wing etc and if a taxi inspector saw it he would put a stop on the cab so then it would come to us for fast repair then it would have to be fully valeted and taken for plating at taxi mot depot and pass befor it was allowed back on the road as a cab,yes much harder to get than an mot.
it even had to be steamed cleaned under side and bay and greased befor plating.
we always had doors wings sills boot lids bonnets bumpers all repaired and painted ready for fitting.
if i had a bit of time i would repair whatever came in ready to go.
i was body man brother was mechanic.
god knows what it would be like now with all the colours etc,ours were all black on dark red.
those were the days fantastic wages as well.
