Had a wet drivers footwell and have pulled up evertything to deal with the rot the leak has caused. You can se the damage it has done over time.

Carpets are all up at the monent and last night js the first rain we have had in a while so prime oppourtunity to find the cause.

Above the sound deading behind the brake pipe.

You can see the seam where both panels join. Either the sealer has failed or the previous repairs to the arch have diverted water down this way.

Will have to check from the engine bay to work a cure out.

If you are getting a wet floor worth checking this area too. An definatly before your floor ends up like them.

Look on bulkhead there’s a cable entry grommet that people often run an extra wire through. This lets water in. Also don’t forget to hose out behind door hinges

I to have suffered from a wet drivers side footwell.
Ive been informed it may have something to do with the grommet that Jim mentioned or a grommet under the scuttle that carries the wiper assemblies across the top of the bulkhead....
My sound deadening acted like a sponge....soaking!
All dried now.
My carpets have been out and in the bin for well over a year now, with the footwell getting a Raptor coat before fitting removable mats.

Had a (small) leak from the grommet behind the wiper assembly. Fixed after reinstalling the wiper assembly covers with proper sealant...

More rain last night so more chance for investigation. You can see the two areas that have rusted away and letting water throught. Look like they will be fun area to repair :lol

I have sealed the gromit that passes through the bulkhead. Sealed inside and from the engine bay. It appear the leak is caused by water running down the seam inside the engine bay on the drivers side. Tight access as the brake cylinder, loom and other pipes restrict but i was able to run sealant along the seam.

You can see in the picture where water has started to degrade the seam. Ghus is the view looking down on the drivers side of the brake cylinder.
