Just had to take the boot carpet out to dry,i had moved my cb twig to above the back door, because of my roof rack.
It had been raining all day and when i opened the door,i noticed the carpet was soaking!!
The water had been running down the cable straight into the back door and along the floor
I thought I'd dried it off with a heater I'd put in,but it was still stinking after a few days(like spilt milk!)
So i had a look under the carpet and guess what! it was soaking in the wells in the boot!
the water had travelled right up under the back seats,so the carpet is know out, seats up,and heater back in!! :?
Carpet is know getting cleaned!!
Will have to watch where i bring my cb twig cable in!!
:?

I've got my cable coming in through the drivers door & have'nt had a leak yet :p but when I fit a roof rack I was going to bring it in via the back door like you  I'm wondering if it'll be poss to run the cable along the seal to the bottom & bring it in at the bottom part of the seal without getting leaks

I would think the problem is that there are 2 seals on the rear door, if you run the cable vertically down it will "wick" every drop of water in the area, the solution is to get through the first seal, run horizontally for a distance then come through the second seal, you may need one of those self adhesive clips to hold the cable between the seals...
Between the seals the cable will have to dip down then go up again so that any water that passes the first seal doesn't continue along the cable down the second seal..
It may work... just a thought.

Thanks rustic for the thought...
I'm think of putting the twig on a mount from the spare wheel mount and bringing the cable in through with the wire that's behind it,haven't a clue what this wire is for!! then running it with the rest of the loom to the front!!
That way i could also get a bigger whip,maybe a 1/2 wave sirio! 8)

Hi Steve, two things!!! First of all check previous posts as the rear door has been known to let water in so it is quite possible you may have this issue as well.
As for the coax, my aerial mounts are both on the rear of the roof rails but I had a mag mount and used the same route. Have a look at the aperture seal along the top of the rear door openning, there is a small lip just big enough to route the coax through. Then using those self adhesive pads run the cable down the openning passed the striker and behind the bumper. Make a small loop behind bumper to let the drips run away and then route the cable back up and over the bottom apperture seal. Did that with mine and it's been fine ever since.

Hi jim,how did you attach the mounts to the roof rails?? i have a sirio with an S0239 mount.
I am going to order the hard mount for the sirio, got any preferences for a good dual band aerial,as i have only got a small mag mount one at the min!
Like the idea of the aerial on the spare wheel bracket, could maybe get the bigger sirio then!!

I bought two of those brackets that truckers fasten to their door mirrors, I made the bolt holes into slots and hey presto they fit my factory fit roof rails. Then just fitted the correct aerial mount and coax to each bracket. I have not got a clue what a Sirio is. When I last broke my dual band antenna, had a little accident with a car port that I forgot I had  . I just nipped round to my local shop and bought a Watson Dual Band for about 30 quid. I don't do models of antenna I just buy one.

PS I like the idea of a bracket on spare wheel carrier.

Cheers jim, will keep the roof rail mount in mind!! going to try the spare wheel bracket first!! 8)
