Hi, i've recently purchased a 2001 Terrano 2.7 Diesel.

Starts brilliantly in the mornings, glow plug light comes on for about 3 secs, i turn the key and she fires.

Get it warm and starting becomes difficult. The glow plug light flashes on briefly, so i attempt to start. The car just turns over and over until i give up.

The work around i've found is to keep switching the ignition on and off until i get a full 3 secs glow plug and then she fires as normal.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Ryan

Hello Ryan and welcome to the club

I would have a go at testing the temperature sensor, located in the front of the right hand side of the cylinder head, when standing in front of the engine; it is the one with 2 wires going to it.

Have a look at the workshop manual http://www.sferamydlo.com.pl/Zbyszek/Nissan/R20/ec.pdf
Page EC 361

Thanks for the info. I've downloaded the PDF. If the sensor does turn out to be faulty do you guys have a preferred supplier for parts..?

there a parts department thread.. also a golden garage thread. but try local then ebay is my fav..

Managed to find an online supplier selling the ECT sensor for £6.30 so i thought i'd change it. The compnay was :- www.onlineautomotive.co.uk
Sadly it hasn't fixed my problem. I changed the oil, fuel, air filters this weekend and while i was at it checked the glow plugs using the downloadable PDF on this site.
1 of the plugs does have a reading way higher than the other 3 so that's now the main culprit.
I notice Milner OffRoad sell them for £8 a pop so i may do all 4 while i'm at it.
