im as ready as usual........ not preped anything yet.

been out in the shed all day sorting stuff out for the daughter, she quit her job Tuesday to start a new career on eBay so she has lots to sell now.

hopefully she will bring her mav out tomorrow too

lads, if you're coming from Swansea I assume you'll hit Llandovery from the Llandeilo end of town...if you do, theres a turning on the left immediately before the girder bridge over the Towy into town, take that, go right at the next T-junction, over the humpback bridge, left at the next T-junction and we are about one mile up the road on the left (heading towards Llyn Briane)....1-2 green T2s outside.....honk your horn an i'll open the gate and yo can drive down to the river...just don't sh*t up the field will ya, or The Redhead will have my goolies! :):)

im probably coming from trecastle on the brecon road

over the black mountain is prob just as quick but i always get lost around bethlehem as they aint big on road signs there,

took that route to makeitfits last time and 3.5 hours to do 70 miles ... going to brighton would have been quicker...

would have been nice if others would come too.... as we are just having a nice day out

in that case you can take same route but cross bridge at end of town and turn right to Cilycwm and follow same directions OR take r/h turn just before level crossing signposted Builth Wells I think, then next left by ambulance station (signed to Llyn Briane) is Cilycwm Rd - we are 2 miles out on l/h side...

well the meet went well today we all met at lacroupade's (paul) house where we all had a sit a chat and some fire cooked bacon sandwiches while we had a look around the small holding and met the animals.
i had to do some emergency repairs to the auto hubs on mine so once that was done , we set of to go up the mountain exploring.
paul took us to the woodland area he uses to walk his dogs and country walks with his wife..... we was there around ten mins when paul showed pete (makitfit) one of the more challenging tracks which is never a good thing to do, but as soon as he saw it pete without much preperation just drove straight down this hilly track and had no problemsso me and my taughter followed in our trucks... paul took the main track and said he would meet us at the end..

we found pete stuck in a boggy bit of track and it appeared his 4wd was not working we had a look and decided as the shafts were spinning while driving the auto hubs were not working ( lucky i had my spare set) so we took them apart and they were incomplete so he had no 4wd at all and couldnt have had it since he baught it 2 weeks ago
anyway once we fitted the spare auto hubs knee deep in bog pete had to try and get it free without hurting the hubs as they engaged while stuck.

so he managed to get it free for a while but as he couldnt give it too much welly he was soon stuck again but deep this time.

we all spent several hours digging jacking and alike but to no avail it was stuck and just kept sinking , like it does on pete soil

as darkness closed in we decided to call it a night and clear out of the area. we were all very wet and cold and the truck was not moving at all
pete recons he has a friend who will pull it out tomorrow if not ill ask a friend here to help i know howards will free it if needed

me and lou could only turn around and leave the way we went in

paul gave pete a lift home so like me they will both be in trouble with wives tonight

hopefully they will both be on later tonight:augie:augie:augie

Hi extreme colin lou and paul and of course WIVES:cool:
Thank you all for another top day out:eek: I thought I'd learned my lesson last time I went out to play.....Look Before you Leap......
"It seemed like a challenge I thought! I had a quick look at the track and it looked ok if a bit lumpy! So I gave it some beans and went for it. To start with all was well, so much so I stopped for a wee half way down:sly
Then I found a boggy bit.. more beans..no good.....no drive....hmm:confused:
Chucked a few rocks under the back wheels and off I went again:thumbs
Then I found a bigger boggy bit:doh Def. no four wheel drive now, bloody ebay:clap (No I love it really, well most of the time!)
Later followed hours of playing in the peat bog, like kids in a mud hole:augie
Once it got dark I declared game over and sent us all ome to face the music:bow
Thanks paul for ferrying me home.
Thanks for colin for his determined digging skills
and a big sorry to Lou who had a right rotten day not doing uch off roading.
I'll have to stay at the back in future and let someone else leap into the unknown:cool:
I'll keep you posted on the recovery excercise:eek:

ahhh but on the bright side, at lease we fixed the 4wd now and we know its working

we really need more lift on the undercarriage and difs.

cutting is the only way thats going to happen....

and of course winches now...... all that recovery stuff and still had to leave it in the woods.

can you chase up some more rope pete ???? about 100 metres and shackles trade if you can

what time you hope to recover pete i have to work tomorrow but could be home for 3-4 pm asked howard no reply yet !

Dont know what time yet. I've got about 100meters down the boat club:thumbs
We've used it loads to drag cars off the beach in he summer:augie
Ring you tomorrow when I know:thumbs

i think you will find ...... pete put a photo ban on the day out... due to someone getting stuck:eek:

No I'd have used my phone but I couldn't get any signal! :sly

Well I did warn him.....

"We'll do a bit of green-laning in the woods" I said. "I'll show you a couple of nasty tracks made by Unimogs probably 20 years ago when these woods were last cut" I said.

"Oooh!" goes Makefit when we get there.

"I'd walk it first if I was you" I said. "The entry and exit slopes are difficult with boggy bits and very deep ruts".....did he listen? Did he hell!

Next thing I know, I'm stood down in the woods, answering natures call, and Makefit flies past down the hill doing about 30 miles an hour. Extreme and Lou (a ballsy young lady if ever I met one!) decided they were going too, but with my LWB (and it being wifeys truck) I decided I'd go the long (safe) way round..., besides, given the ar*e in a camper van that drove at us in the middle of the road on the way up and wiped my wing mirror off and nearly drove into Lou, I'd done enough damage to the Mrs' truck at that point!

The rest is history as they say and even though the day ended a bit early (at least the driving part!) they were a great bunch to meet and I was impressed with the way everyone pitched in.....the sight of Extreme on his knees in a boggy swamp, swapping out M/Fs hubs, won't be forgotten in a hurry! It was only the fact that darkness fell and all we had was a packet of Colin's winegums to survive on that made us give up......but I for one had a great afternoon, beats sitting at home any day!

Photos? well currently there aren't any as Colin says....but it gets light around 630am....mmmm, I wonder.... :naughty:naughty

LMAO! Well the boy got out apparently.....I left home at 6pm to go back to Oxford and the wife called to say returned the rope he borrowed at about 6.20pm, virtually dark by then and the weather was crap - piddling down, so must have been a miserable turn...

So, he'd better present himself on here sharpish and report how he got out, which direction, and most bof all, what his Lany mate said about things!

But I guess we put that track down as "Lunatics Only" now....

The only good news is I went back up at 730 this morning and took pics of the sad beast which I shall post on a sparkling new thread so everyone will see it (they'll be bored with the Wales meet by now I guess)...so sharpen your sticks...

BTW Makefit, tks very much for the kind thought; much appreciated. Watch out for the pics!
