Hello everyone,

Can anyone tell me how heavy my Patrol is (kg):nenau. Its a 94 3dr 4.2d GR.

I'm just trying to work out if i need to take the trailer test in order to pull my caravan.

I take it you passed your test after the 1st Jan 1997... if you passed before you've no problems :thumbs

So if your car weighs 2190kgs, so long as your caravan is under 1309kgs it should be ok??

Thats a 59% match too! - doubt you'll even feel the 'van on the back!!! :lol

Wonder then if that means my girlfriend could tow our caravan..... not sure I would want to be sat at the side of her though!!!!!!!!!!! :augie

ha ha sorry, if you passed your test after 1st Jan 1997 you need to take an additional test to get your licence to tow anything if the Max Gross Weight of the car + trailer is over 3,500kgs. So so long as Neils total outfit is under 3500kgs he should be ok? :thumbs

So, my van weighs about 895kg, so i should be ok. In theory, the truck could weigh up to 2605kg, and i would be alright as the combined weight isn't over 3500kg.

All so confusing!

c'mon here theres more.

regs state that vehicle upto 3500kg ( class b ) can tow upto 750kg, but if trailer
over 750kg as most 'vans are then the combo of 3500kg applies also further complicated
by car has to gross more than van, and 85% may also apply, which is based on kerb
weight so deffo tricky area when lareger 4x4s involved.

Ahhh.....

Just when i thought it was safe.

So, if my Troll weighs 2190kg, and van is 895kg, Can i tow it without having to do a trailer test? As combined weight is less than 3500kg, and troll is heavier than van.

maybe just take the test so if needed you can tow something bigger

neil, i reckon you are ok, guess troll could just about carry van never mind tow it.

but is 2190 the gross weight of the troll or kerb as believe its the gross that applies.
