VEG OIL

I HAVE STOPPED USING VEG OIL WHILE THIS COLD SPELL IS ON .AM DOWN TO ABOUT 10% NOW
DID RUN FINE ON 50% WHEN GREEN LANING JUST PUT IT IN BEFORE WE LEFT HOME AND TOPED UP AGAIN ON WAY HOME AND HAVE FILLED UP A COUPLE OF TIMES WITH NEAT DIESEL SINCE .

after sitting here reading for about an hour, let me get this stright

i can walk into aldi buy some veg oil and just tip it stright into my tank in the car park?

no messing?

wont it bollox my fuel pump? Y61 the old 2.8 clackly engine not the posh 3L one :lol:
 
As far as i'm aware this is the case!!! i think the runnier the oil the better,somebody who is trying it out will come along and advise you better!!
Going to wait till the summer to try it in mine...! :lol:
 
if u wanted 100% veg youd need to pre heat to make it runnier hence why ian and few others cutting back the percentage to 25% veg to 75% diesel to thin it down enough in cold weather

Presume yours is diesel not 2.8 petrol? Not infering your thick but have to be carfefull thesedays :lol:

Depending on outside temp, depends how much veg oil you can use, I'm using 60% or more for off road, but now its cold only tip straight in when I'm going to use it in same day.

Theres a lot being siad now about it thickening in winter and returning to sump etc. Best not to take chances, and fill up on normall stuff if its gonna be stood for some time.
 
Not sure about your fuel system but I'm sure someone wii have the answer.

However Plank is keeping an eye on a T2 that has problems, that has been running on veggie.

seeing as iv got the long range tank, work out to be about 160ltrs alltogether, i might put 120ltr of diesel in and 40ltr of veg oil, would that be ok?

I'd start with small amounts first say 10 litres and work my way up make sure all is Ok, but should you want to you can tip in 90% and go for it.

Stinks like a chippy though and just about everybody comments. I've been pulled by police and had people pull up alongside and talk to me :lol:
 
i had 20l runnin 50/50 just outside house mot's tomorrow she drove grand no distances but, started no bother even with a frost on window BUT...

changed fuel filter and renewed fuel lines and couldnt get the thing to bleed was at it ages dropped 10er of diesel into her and started no bother after a few pumps of the primer and a couple of turns. cant see tank being empty as it hasnt done any miles since the 50/50 stuck in which was just as she ran dry 1 day.
 
Anyone see top gear last week ran a bmw on rape seed ,and it killed the pump.
 
no they were using oil tuned into bio diesel itd been done wrong by sound of it thats what killed pup to much methanol (used to thin it down?) had been added
 
Just back from Puerto Rico and petrol down there is 72-77cents a litre. 35-37 pence GB :x

And all their's is shipped in!
 
AN UPDATE ON THE VEG OIL TERRANO PROBLEMS

after the customer took it fir tests at LCUK he never brought it back, but he is local (and a regular customer) and has been driving it around as normal, which i beleieve pretty much rules out the pump or anyhting major, it must have ben a DIY fis issue, and i assume the number 1 injector, so sceptic as i am, probably nothing to do with veg oil !

If i learn anything else I will add it :!:

Does anyone know if a 1997 2.7 tdi has a bosch or lucas fuel pump as it seems quite important when smashing in the veg oil!

ought to be Bosch but its written on the pump - huge object at rear right hand side under bonnet to right of fuel filter....if it is, you can run significant ratios of SVO/diesel with no mods.
 
Hope so, should get it at the end of the week, then off to lidli and in your face gordon brown!
 
lidl is now too expensive for veggie oil best hope is a booker cash and carry or a costco there much cheaper than lidl or aldi
