you would be surprised, for many of them it is still cheaper to go to the supermarkets as the drums they buy aren't that cheap. Might be different now the price has gone mad at the supermarkets, but not much. It was Still over £1 a litre befire the price hike

used stuff a hastle though, ask him nicely how much hed do you three nice new 25l drums for! hes bound to be getting it cheaper due to amount he uses and hell get the vat back!

i meant new stuff, over a £1 a litre at wholesale (before the price hike), and i don't think their is any vat on veg oil. There is no easy cheap answer,

dirty oil, and too far away, but a nice try :thumb2

But it tells you something doesn't it....67p a litre and its got fecking chips in it! So the price of home-brew bio-diesel is only going one way.....:)

I use 100% SVO when it's warm and 50/50 in winter, I have a heat exchanger fitted before the filter and it all goes fine, starts absolutely fine in the winter. However, I would warn against using used, filtered oil even from a reputable supplier. I used to buy used oil, 1000 litres at a time. This was supposedly filtered down to 1 micron and but I had to change my fuel filter about every 1000 miles. The last load I bought clogged my filter quicker so I bought some 1 micron sock filters, these caught loads of gunge, but my filter was still clogging. My understanding is that the fuel filter only filters to 10 microns, and we can't see anything l smaller than 50 microns, so my guess is that the suppliers of the oil and the filters were banking the money and keeping their fingers crossed!
I have since purged my fuel system and just use new oil from CostCo. The price fluctuates with the seasons, it goes up to £20 for 20 litres in winter and down to £14 in the summer

good question

Interesting discussion.

1) heat exchanger ? So where do you fit ? can it be fitted by a guy like me who knows nothing about cars ?

2) building up slowly toward those figures 50/50 winter and maybe 90/10 summer

3) if you go from 100% oil back to full diesel, is that clear / clean the pipes ?
