So as you all know (thankyou for your advise) I have had running issues recently, changed a fuel filter and all seemed ok, until motorway today where she decided to hit me with engine light. We stopped at services and I checked the filter, used the drain but it was fresh, then when i tilted the filter it poured out the head where it meets the fuel filter housing

We did this up once we found the right tool and no more lights

But... After our pay n play event I noticed the old girl was really down on power... So bad infact that e slightest grassy verge I could not deal with in 2wd :doh

Eventually we stopped at a petrol station and I began to do the math.. Then I though "well id best check the air filter" oh dear.... :doh
This was discovered after a 4 mile 60mph journey... God knows how much went down..

So the air filter had a big muddy patch on one side now, so I turned it round and hey presto, she instantly had power again, but was biggish a bit until 2500rpm.

I am assuming that even though it brined the filter round in the housing it plays a massive effect on the power.

I'm hoping I just need a new air filter and my boggy feeling will go away :thumbs

Oh and lastly!!!! One of my cv joints is very poorly, it was making some serious clock clink conk noises whilst in 4wd. All wheels turned and did not let me down, but my god it didn't sound good :(

start saving :doh :thumbs

I think it's snorkel time mate :D
You hit the water pretty hard in those vids I watched so it's not surprising some got in the filter housing. Damp filter will effectively starve the engine of oxygen.
The MAF can also suffer but should dry out pretty quick

Just out of interest I understand the reasoning for a drain hole but is it not another point of entry for water to be sucked in?

The one on my filter housing is a one way gland . Water can drain out but it can't be sucked in :thumbs

get a kids snorkel and cut the bend off, drill a hole to dia of tube at lowest part of the filter housing, glue it in place so air gets in but water cant because of the ball pushing up if it gets deep enough.
