Hi all, Rynne22 was here again today, in sorting her light problems amongst other things I came across this on the fuel filter, and do not know what these two items are, never seen them before, it has the normal water switch on the bottom, but these are deffo original as wired into the main loom, could one be a heater (bottom one) and the other a pump? This is a non intercooler TD so maybe the fuel temperature sensor is one of them, shame ECU talk did not want to know as may of helped in identification, Rick

My 1995 2.7td Maverick has a twin wire cable, red and black going into the top of the black cover with the pozidrive screws on.
The Blue crimps are after market, as the connection is not well made, and the wires can fracture at the point of entry.
As far as I am aware, it is a fuel heater. Standard on mine from new.:thumb2

Basically the fuel passes through there and there is a heated element in there that would make the fuel less viscous.

Clearly this motor has been used on Veg or Bio before

Rynne do you want to sell it?

Thank's Rustic, the blue crimps were all I could get to fit as when Kate arrived they were literally bare wires wrapped around terminals, so can I assume the lower one is a temperature sensor, Rick

Its std heater on td nothing to do with any kind of vegetable

Ah didn't know that!!! :thumb2

Must have just been to make things run a bit smoother in the colder months then maybe, good idea, they should have kept it going with the TDi's

As originally stated the wiring is original so the gubbins on the filter must also be, my guess is one is the heater and the other a temperature so that when the heater is not needed it switches off, Rick

Yep was only fitted to the TD was deleted on TDI prob cost cutting as not needed

Right, so it sounds like it is quite a useful piece of kit - see, I knew Terry was good.
And no, Banshee, sorry but not selling, I loves me truck!

Thank you again, Rick, and thanks for your patience in explaining everything - just don't test me on it next time lol

Replace cheap item.And retest

Try a filter, try wiring ect :thumb2

Can't get any radio til Rick sorts out the ripped out wires - Terry just wasn't cared for properly before!
