these are non pressure hoses, they do not need clips, just good fuel hose and push on, Rick

I found one pipe very loose and another with a plug on it to have split. I managed to cut this cleanly and was able to re-use it and have held it on with a cable tie. Will keep my eye on it.
Incidentally, the oil filters on these are a pain to get to aren't they? I couldn't get my cheapy strap wrench on it and it was far too tight to get off by hand. Ended up bashing a screwdriver through it so I could loosen it. Where there's a will and all that.
On with the next job tomorrow, checking the fuel tank and pipes for air leaks/crud.

Well we managed to use very thin metal wire on one, but the clearance from the injector and hose is so fine that a cable tie or even this wire wont fit.. The clip is so so thin its unreal... Even nissan main dealer in park royal were confused.. :doh

Only because the veg is thicker i am worried about not using a clip. Also they all have clips on at the moment, even if they are butchered :lol

Yeah filters are a pain, haven't done one myself but fiddly.

Does this mean the leak is fixed? hope so:thumb2

...Incidentally, the oil filters on these are a pain to get to aren't they...

And finally the joys of Terrano ownership...:lol:lol:lol

Yep... that damn filter again.:doh
There is a technique though...:thumb2

Plenty of posts on this, best done with a warm NOT hot engine, access through the nearside wing, with wheel off and inner rubber liner off, using one of those plastic handled strap wrenches.

It can be done without spilling a drop.:thumb2 (once or twice anyway...:lol:lol).
But you need to prepare for the greatest oil spill since the gulf.

Best to remove the under engine cover, you can see the filter easily, and you can move the full filter forward over the chassis, and wiggle it through the gap.
OR park it on some old plastic bags, and take it from the top.
I have done it from above, on half a dozen occasions.
Having had my Mav 19 years, I have changed it a few times.:thumb2

A couple of times, i just degreased the filter, with a wipe of solvent, wore a cheap disposable neoprene/ rubber glove and it came undone easily, due to the great grip of the glove, with just one hand.:thumb2

TIP:-
Always 3/4 fill the new filter with new engine oil, it saves the engine running dry as the oil filter fills before you get lubrication...
Also smear the rubber seal with fresh oil too.

Oh, and you need access to it sometimes to tighten it too.
But the rubber glove technique works well on this.

Some people use the large cast iron plier type wrenches, with the curved crab like jaws.:thumb2
BUT chain wrenches... forget those, not enough room around the filter.

There's an under engine cover? Wonder where mine went?

The rubber inner wheel liner is already missing, well, sitting in the boot. It was a bit torn up and ended up fouling on the wheel and trying to rip the wing off. At some point I will need to replace this.

I don't think there are supposed to be clips on these pipes, it's good fitting rubber fuel hose which goes from injector to injector. The piece of pipe on the last injector is blocked off with a plastic plug ...... or if you give the job to a ham fisted numpty like me, it's a bolt because the plastic plug fell out of my hands into the abys down the back of the egine never to be seen again. :doh

CNCFABS or Rick are your people for bits :thumb2

My 2.7 had clips on them, I fitted new pipes and without the clips, they leaked like pigs, so had to refit the clips

I'll be sure to make a list and send it to them. Looks like the list is growing daily.

All four shocks looks pretty knackered, plus I need 2 rear tyres. I have good BFG A/T's on the front so would like to get some part worns to match. LT 235/75/R15's. Will have to keep an eye on the bay of fleas.

The top of the fuel tank's not looking great, given it a good clean, but needs more cleaning before I dare open it up to check the internals.

I would not be opening that up, the bolts will shear most likely and there is nothing in side to see, no filter, if the tank is not showing any sign of leaking then leave well alone, the seams suffer from rust and spread apart do not touch this just spray with waxiol or whatever to stop it getting worse, if it is leaking I have a tank or two, Rick

I've been having issues with the engine struggling at higher revs. I put some Deisel flush in and it helped a bit. Replacing the fuel filter worked for a time, but it's starting to struggle again. I thought there might be some crud in the tank blocking up the swirl pot. If that's unlikely then I'll not touch this then, it look pretty fragile.
I've ordered some clear fuel hose to see if there's air getting in somewhere. Will try a few other things when I get chance.

So much to do, so little time...and money...mostly money:doh

I'm still fighting a losing battle against the former owners dodgy wiring. Found an old nokia car kit control box cut off and left in behind the glove box. Gonna have fun working out what wires are supposed to go where.

It's could be the mini filter inside the banjo bolt is full of crap as it's prob never been cleaned

some have the mini filter one I saw recently did not, it it had a metering orifice instead so less likely to give trouble, so yes worth checking, also worth a check is the inlet banjo to the filter, anything fairly large coming in will get trapped here and cause a restriction, I had this on my off roader, looked like some shredded rag bits, but caused big power loss, Rick
