I really rate the Goodyear Wrangler AT/R. I had them on my Maverick and they were great on the road, and suprisingly brilliant off-road. I took the motor to Drumclog - famous for being very boggy and only got stuck when my diff grounded out. As long as you dont press the throttle these tyres will pull you through almost anything! Just use tick over to get through the really slimey stuff :thumb2

Thought you might like this site too! If you input your standard size and the size you wish to go up to it calculates all the details you need to know, eg - how much your speedometer will be out, how much extra clearence you will receive, how much bigger the diameter is etc...

I've got kingpin tyres on. top tyre in the mud but life may be questionable. It seems like the remould may be coming away. and a bit perishing only had just over a year. and done about 10K

Took them for a little spin in the mud today. They work better by themselves than any of the other combinations I've tried in 2 or 4 wd. Which is why I've ordered 3 more ! They're quieter on the road than the Michelin ATs I've got on the front, and they don't make any difference to the handling.

Insa Turbo Rangers

Morning all

Anyone got any opinions on these? Probably a bit late to ask as I've ordered 4!
They seem to be a good compromise tyre 50/50 tread based on the BFG AT. I figured I needed something a bit better in the snow than the Avon Ranger road biased rubber it's wearing at the moment..

I think there are 2 different Avon Rangers - one's an All Terrain & the other is very road biased. Mine are road biased. I've just been out in the TII and it was sliding all over the place. I hope my new tyres make it here through the snow tomorrow.....

Im rapidly reaching the conclusion that Im going to follow the european way, Nov to March Snow or M&S tyres then Apr to Oct normal road biased

My Terrano is a weekend/winter 3rd car, that does little mileage so I've decided to go with a 50/50 all terrain pattern to stay on all the time.

I've recently fitted cheapy snow tyres to the drive axle on my Merc (rwd) - what a difference compared to normal summer tyres. However I have noticed that I can get the back end out very easily and the traction control interferes more than it did previously on dry or merely damp roundabouts!

in the 80's I used to do York to Durham all year round snow rain or shine in a 2 litre rwd cavalier.

In the winter I carried a trolley jack and 2 spare rims with snow tyres all of the time.

Like you say amazing difference , thats why Im currently hunting out a spare set of 17" rims for my jeep
