Have a look at tyres direct online, very good on price with rim/tyre combos.

Yeah Mate, that is who I am thinking of getting them from, I've phoned them a couple of times now, quite helpful.

I wanted to buy local, for obvious reasons, but my regular place let me down, which meant I missed the last P&P day of 2012 at my local site.

Yes local is good, but if they can't dip into their profit to match the prices then I will go elsewhere.

Guy at work came in his Land Cruiser today. Shod with 265/70R16.

I couldn't get over how wide and chunky they looked compared to the standard 235/70R16 on mine. No wonder they rub, if you are not careful...

well took the plunge and bought 4 new steel wheels and brand new remoulds 245 70 16 tyres bf goodrich at tread pattern like my general grabbers at2 pattern for £450 fitted balanced and delivered to my door so am happy just got to sort out camber on the front then its tracking time again

my new wheels will fit tomorrow once i have check tracking and camber will then take more pics:sly

Not many weights on them, impressive.

These are the "D" Modular wheels... Is there any important difference/s between Modular, "D" Modular and 8 Spoke that we should know about.

Another new size. Also there is 255/70 I think.

Well done for making a decision. I keep deciding on a set, and then phone and they are out of stock. Apparently there is a boat in the middle of the ocean somewhere, bringing lots of fresh rubber... :clap

only had to trim front mud flaps had 40mm lift on back with the the help of fezs dislocation cones and re indexed front torsion bars so it sits bout 20mm lower than the rear thnik rear sits about 893mm-900 from ground to wheel arch happy days but now with bigger wheels think its showing up all the play in the steering ball joints:eek:

Your camber will be out mate, worth a check, also a 6mm bj spacer or two per side, available from eBay in a pack of 6

When peoples new tyres rub, do you think it is caused by the height of the tyre, or the width?

I have those Malatesta Koala tyres, done about 5k miles on them and found them to be very good in all conditions, including towing in thick mud and at motorway speeds! :thumb2

and I got them from tyres direct! i did a lot of research into all the AT pattern remoulds available and these seemed the best. So far i would rate them a little higher than the BFG AT tyre they are a copy of :thumb2

I just got direct replacements for the original size, though they do stand a fair bit taller. And, as i said, I am happy with the choice, they have the best speed and load ratings and the best reputation!
