Hi.

Two questions:

- How big can i go without using a grinder?

- How big can i go with the standard steel rims?


It's all about size!!! :lol

I thought that we were controlled by law on what mods we can do?????
Or is it ok as long as it is inspected and documented???
I don't speak enough Portuguese to fully understand these things!!!!!����
But we do intend to stick to the 205x16s fitteed to our Terrano 1 !!!!!!!

Hi.

yes, we are limited to stock sizes.
Any modification from stock settings is required to be verified and registered on the car documentation (DUA). Anything from winch to snorkel, including the tyres.

In the tyre sizes they usually are more understanding, as long as they are inside the standard width of the car.

However is better to register the new size in the DUA to avoid problems. (around 100€ between a certificate that allows you to use the new size and the new DUA).
 
Give your torsion bars a slight tweak, remove your mudflaps and you'll get 31 10.50 15's in there with no grinding or cutting :thumb2
 
What about offset? I want to do a 50mm suspension lift with a 265 75 r15 tyre. My original alloy rims are +25mm offset can I fit 0mm offset rims with this tyre size and not have to get the hammer out?

I can't be sure there without conversions and stuff :doh

The steel wheels that i use are -25 with the 30mm spacers, it's a +5mm offset.

When i finally fit the 31" tyres i can let you know.


How will you do a 50mm suspension lift? Or are you talking about a body lift?

Well, just to close this topic.

The 31 fits on my steel rims nicely, however once installed on the Maverick i can turn too much.

I have to grind a little bit and up the suspension.

Yes, standard suspension.
Not looking for too many mods on the Maverick, at least for now.

But with IFS on the front, i can lift too much.

Bigger tyres + Suspension Lift = Drive Shaft Gone. :D
I'm trying to get my head around this.
A larger tyre diameter isn't going to affect the CV angle, is it? Or if it does it'll be negated by the suspension lift.
Could you take a photo of the drive shaft so I can if my head will get around a little bit more?

The diameter of the tyre won't effect the CV.
It's the lifting of the front on the torsion bars that will effect the angle.
I've been running mine with around 2" lift and 33" tyres for a good few years now.
No pavement princess either and takes some abuse and fingers crossed I've yet to bust a CV:thumb2

Cool, I thought so, but I still think that a 2" increase of tyre diameter is going to lift the outer cv by 1", that when added to a 2" suspension lift is going to result in a 1" drop from inner to outer CV.
Going from a 29" diameter tyre to a 33" diameter tyre with a 2" suspension lift will leave the CV at original dangle angle.

As already say'd, the CV angle won't change due to the tyre change in size.
Since the only thing that affects que CV angle is the suspension (lift or movement).
