hi running a terrano 2.7 tdi 2005 97k had this problem.serviced car 3 filters all ok for 10 days ish 3 wks ago driving along in 5 th quite happy(on way to work) lost power but kept running.had to pull over wudnt rev over 1500.mate picked it up and reset a "turbo pressure alarm" all ok again.so to be safe removed cleaned egr valve cleaned bosch maff sensor and happy motering for 2 wks today same thing happened driving along in 5th maybe 40 45 car looses power,engine still running .pulled over engine wont rev over 1500.tried plug onto maf sensor not sure maybe loose but not sure.knocked engine off pulled maf connection plug off and pushed back on all ok again.went to garage and his snap on code reader said "PO235 Turbo boost then under that PO100 mass air flow circuit malfunction" im guessing the las t one was me ......but any ideas for turbo boost probs? never checked the "banjo fuel filter" but cant see that being problem HELP
 
As far as I recall the 2.7 has no MAP or absolute manifold pressure sensor, so no way of directly measuring the turbo boost level.
It could register an abnormally high air flow from the MAF as an indication of excessive turbo boost based on the inlet air flow being much higher than normal.
This could, of course be due to a bad connection/faulty MAF, telling lies about what is really happening.

2005 model will have a 16 pin DLC, like this:
Check & IGN, then follow the instructions in the workshop guides.

hi my mate used a snap on code reader are you saying that it might not be reading the fault correctly ? ive not had any warning light come on in car ?

yes thats what i am saying do what has been said and with paper clip or short wire short out pins 1 and 8 i think or what they r in the pic above and read the flashes on the little engine light long flashes r 1 number and short flashes will be the second no. then get back to us with the code i.e 3 slow flashes and 4 short flashes means 34 which is needle lift sensor wont be urs but just an example:thumbs

oops just having a moment tried accessing codes but no joy...drrrrr just reliased my mate cleared the faults with his snap on code reader so will have to wait for a dreaded repeat,but both times its happened ive not had the engine light on or is it called a mil light ??? to be continued many thanks peter
 
If the DTC's have been cleared by your mate, then you should get the code 55, which is no faults recorded.
 
didnt seem to get any flashes from the mil light ? but will wait and see how it behaves now as all seems ok..see a senior member has had same problem aswell since mine hmmmm

well same prob again driving along loose power.mrs driving this time so she pulled over as soon as she cud and stoped engine and restarted now all ok again.but theres no mil light flashing on dash ???????????????? can maf sensors gice odd readings when there on there way out ?????? mines a bosch one with these numbers on F00C 2G2 061 AND THEN SEPERATLY 490 27 2A ...i fit a new fuel filter air and oil before this started cud it poss be a dodgey fuel filter ???????????

Was it a cheap 1 I use fram only for fuel filter

hi geoff its a fram one .talked to a bloke who had similar prob on a 98 terrano mechanic spent 10 mins on it and said it wanted ign barrel he fitted a s/h one and cars been fine since.understand that it could be an ignition barrel but do you think its lickely ??
 
Not usually the barrel but the switch unit attached to the rear of it.Could be many things that cause this. Best bet at the moment is suck it and see, if it dosn`t happen again , happy days, if it does look elsewhere.

think my route to work is jinksed at 5 am had same failur on same bit of road wtf .engine does not stop just no power.coasted to a stop switch off start up again alls ok .borrowed a diff fault code reader just now a Seally one its giving me ###P0235 tubo pressure### HELP cud anyone point me to where abouts of boost pressure switch/harness and the knock sensor ? ta peter

Don't bother with the code reader have u put a paper clip in pins 1 and 8 on that port like I said before what flashes do u get will be long flashes pause the short flashes then it will go on to next code I.e ----- ..... Which means 0505 or 55 that code means no faults have u done this method.

Also there is no pressure sensor for turbo on 2.7 only on the 3lt and no knock sensor either so read the codes with paperclip :thumbs

well another drive to work and hey hoo same prob same bit of road.never even bothered stoping this time just turned igntion off and started again and away we go..any way going off pic supplied off other 16 pin plug im putting clip in bottom left "ign" and bottom right "check" if i take clip out mil light goes out and doesnt flash at all.but if i leave it in i get 9 long flashes and 5 short ones then a pause ....help

i cant see the failt code 0905 is that the only code
