You're more trusting than me mate :bow

No ones making you buy one...if there is a problem with a box in the future I will offer exchange free of charge!!! How many times have you updated the firmware on yours???

If that's the case then carrying out a repair on it will be impossible? That seems a bit odd to me that the whole thing would have been injected with silicone and resin, I don't understand why that has been done if not to try and obscure the internals :nenau

Mine is fully waterproofed but still gives me the option to open it and remove the circuit board for repairs and is also firmware up-gradable, does yours have this capability?

It's done to waterproof the internals!

I know nobody is forcing my hand to buy one but I was very interested in one. From the get go in this thread, there have been others that have asked for pictures of the device that have gone unanswered and you've not been able/not wanted to answer technical specifics on the device and how it does what it does.

I just get the feeling it's all very hush hush but if I'm going to fork out £50 for something then I'd at least like to see a picture of it, anyone can say that they have sold "X" amount and that everyone loves it.

Given the fact that these are costing £1.50 or whatever it was to build, I can't believe that it s doing "the same job" as my PowerChip I'm afraid. I've upgraded the firmware on mine twice, there's even an application that allows you to fine tune the values but I'm not going to mess with those.

Also you've mentioned that your "box" doesn't tap into the MAF as mine does, everybody knows that the more fuel you request from the pump, it's good practice to amplify the values of the MAF.

Without pulling one of these apart and inspecting it at a component level I would not be installing one on my truck, but that's just me.

I hope everyone that has one fitted enjoys it and that it doesn't ask too much of the Bosch pump causing pump failures as you may have a few grumpy Terrano owners to contend with :doh

As they say on Dragons Den, I'm out

I haven't got photobucket so can't add pics and as I said before this is different to the one on my commercial.... many people on here also said it couldn't be done!! Bosch pumps are one of the most reliable mechanical pumps out there!!! Please tell me what your box is doing to the maf and what effect that has?

I think it needs looking at in context, it was £50 fitted, makes my truck go faster and I have a control knob in the cab, which will soon have a lego head on it :D

That made me chuckle T-Doug. 'Control knob in the cab' :lol:lol

Photobucket isn't crucial, when you're replying to a post, if you click the paperclip next to the smiley face, this will let you attach 1 image to your post. Failing that you've uploaded 2 videos on YouTube of your truck in action with one fitted, could you not do a quick 30 second video of it showing the connections, adjustment knob and the box itself :nenau That's the sort of thing I'd be doing if I was serious about trying to flog some of these.

I've read and heard people say the same thing about the Bosch pumps that they can't be messed with etc which is why I think so many people have then gone down the manual pump research route even though I've yet to see someone actually do one in my time here, I know Timbo from Shropshire has said he has done a few in the past.

The Bosch VE pump is a very very rugged and durable pump and I have no doubt that they are capable of providing way more umphhhhhh than it does out of the box. I just worry that asking too much of it could kill it off totally. Then there's other things to factor in too, does the pump still behave in the same fashion when ran on Vegetable Oil with the box up full whack? If not and it causes the pump to fail and someone points the finger at the tuning box, what then?

If it were me, I'd be making every person who brought one sign a document to the effect of dissolving any liability for any breakages caused by the box to avoid landing myself in hot water.

Finally, from what I've read, my box amplifies the signal that is being read by the MAF pre 2000RPM, I also noticed that fitting my Snorkel benefited me too as it seemed way more responsive afterwards, the greater the actual air flow, the higher the amplified value, the better the chip works.

Having spoken to a lot of other 4x4 guys about chips and tuning of Diesels etc, they all agreed that if you ask more of the pump, you need to throw in more air, adjusting fuel quantity on it's own will obviously have a positive impact but will plateau eventually without more air in the mix. This is why most 200TDi Defenders and Disco's smoke out the streets when floored as they are pumping unburnt fuel straight back out into the atmosphere I guess :nenau

So how have you adjusted the air to match your fuel increase?

I haven't, the chip does this, I have 4 wires that go to the harness on the pump and 1 wire to the MAF, depending on what setting the chip is on depends on how much the MAF value is amplified.

The only thing I've done to improve air flow is fitted the snorkel, the "Ram Effect" seems to have improved the performance compared to when I just had the standard air box set up.

A wire to the maf is not going to do anything to the airflow!!! Increasing the fuel will bring the boost in slightly earlier and increase it slightly but this will happen with my box or yours or even a remap! Turn the fuel up more you will get smoke amplifying the signal from the maf will not increase the air intake the only way to do this more is to turn up the boost!! I'd also like to add that when maf amps where on sale everyone went mad for them! All they did was fool ecu into increasing fuel a slight amount and results where very hit and miss! My box has been run in comparison on terranos with these fitted and my box provides much better results at a much more reliable return! I've also had someone run my box on a terrano with a tunit box fitted to do a comparison, his tunit box is now for sale!!

Time will tell I suppose, I'll watch from a distance and see how how people get on long term.

Is it just the one you've sold to Doug on here so far?

More boost is something for the future :sly, going to get an egt gauge and boost gauge on it first then hopefully exhaust, then maybe send turbo off to become a hybrid or summat :nenau:D:thumb2

Yes just Doug on here but plenty through other places! I guess the negativity doesn't help!

I think you will find the wire on yours that goes to the maf has nothing to do with increasing air flow ;-) but hey I guess if we all knew how things worked we would all be Making them!!

At the end of the day I did these for people that wanted abit more poke and don't have £200+ for a tunit, I thought people on here like other sites would appreciate it but I guess not!! Cheer for your purchase mark I hope you are happy with it! If you come across any issues let me know :)

No negativity, just realistic observations that I'm throwing out there before people fit these to their trucks. Forgive me if I seem a bit hostile but you are a very new member to the forum and I'm just looking out for the guys and their trucks.

New member?? I thought you was a moderator on here? Check your facts again!!

131 posts is a new member to me, doesn't matter how long you've been joined since if you've not contributed much :nenau

I feel like I've said enough on the chips now, I've aired my concerns which I think our fellow forum members are entitled to hear.

Well it's a fact I won't be renewing!

As I said these where done to benefit people that want abit more poke and not have to fork out £200+ this tuning method has been used on Bosch pumps for years and just needed tweaking to suit the terrano! From day one on here it was met with negativity saying it can't be done ect, so i prove it can be done and you still get the 'know it all' airing their concerns!

If anyone wants one I'm available on other pages, have 100% feed back from many happy customers!

Cheers
