Ooh I do like the magnetic drilling machine, very handy piece of kit, Rick

He said it was about 2000 when they came out but you can get them for under £300 now :naughty

I found I couldn't get decent fixing for the lower tube strut
So had a couple of inserts made and then I drilled and tapped them sideways, so I can get a bolt through the chassis tiedown bit just below the front body mount :thumbs

I'll do a puddle weld in the holes next to stop them twisting or pulling out, that'll fix it

Final fit

Been a while but stuff happened
Any road up had a day of light spannering today and only one of rain, result :
One winch tray bolted an fitted in final postion. I had to rotate the gearbox one bolt hole to get the clutch lever to work without cutting the truck :thumbs

What overhang :sly my approach angle is better than it was with the stock bumper :naughty

Here you can just see the rear strut too. This will help stop the bar moving backwards if I hit a tree again !

Bit of wiring to do tomorrow then some testing me thinks :clap

Very nice, I notice many who use Dyneema use the slotted gismo as opposed to rollers, any particular reason? oh and been asked to go help and winch in a very large Gypsy styl van up a long slope to its finnal resting place tomorrow should be interesting, will def get pics, Rick

Rick it's just a simple bit of ally instead of a bunch of rollers and bearings etc. It doesn't rust either so there's no worries about chaffing  No one likes chaffing :lol
Lighter smaller shiny and defo no probs of the rope ever getting between the rollers :thumbs
Oh yeh, it's cheaper too :clap

That looks pretty fkn epic mate :)

I assume you'll close off the tube ends, might I suggest u add a pre runner loop angled forward like those US/AUS rock crawler buggies have, would look pretty sexual

No ta, I'm just putting a hook hoop on the bonnet. Don't want any extra over hangs up front :thumbs Short n sweet gets me round the tight bits :D
Yep ends will be nylon blanked ;)

Sounds good, noticed that one side roller on mine that took some heavy load has distorted the plastic bush which is now exuding from the bottom, took a knife to it to remove ragged edge, so will be getting Ali one asap, oh and beefing up the cut section of I beam it is fixed to as this bent as well and it is 6mm thick, Rick

aye 6mm will bend with a few tonnes on it :lol I got as many extra planes on mine as poss and to try and keep the box closed ish, if you see what I mean.
Then the rest of it is triangulated too. Will see how it survives a few trees next time out :thumbs
