Started to think about a winch bumper for the trol at the weekend  and was suitably horrified how much it would cost
So I'll make my own, again, how hard can it be ? :lol
Sketched a few ideas on the back of a bill :augie

Then got some measurements off the old girl's undercarriage :)

I just want it to be as strong as possible and also not too bulky.
So back to the garage to cut up some ply as a mock up and got this far.

Box bit will be trimmed down lots yet. The tube bits are cut at the angle I want to protect the front of the wing. It'll be supported from below and behind to get plenty of fixing points and therefore strength :D

Bendy pipe here but will be straight, honest :thumbs Handy holes in the chassis for fixing points.

Base for the winch is to be 5mm steel and being bent now in the black smiths :clap The tube part will also be 60mm and 3mm wall :naughty
I'll put some update shots tomorrow

me likey. Looks like the LR challenge ones they do

You will be doing challenge wings soon enough ;)

Loving it mate

You had a glance in that terrano pics gallery btw, as theres a whole album of tubular bumpers, might be good for inspiration in case you haven't thought of everything

:)

Basicly tube frame to replace weak wings

So many different styles and adaptations.

Would that be road legal ?

Just noticed lack of front plate so figured its purely an offroader

You mean number plate :nenau I notice lots of landies put them in the windscreen. I think it's part of their air con :lol
Have you got a link stinky? Can't find it again

its stickied in the fooking terrano mods forum mate

yh thats mental tbh, crazy mods !!

I think now you have your patrol going well for you, you should sas the mav :thumb2 :p

SAS the mav ? :nenau
those orange mods aren't that wild. Live axle job is good though and in retrospect I should have done that from the start :sly
That said I can get pretty similar flex :thumbs

How did they do that then, from what I saw the front axle diff was to to offside (right) but standard T2 it is to the left, does that mean it has not a standard box/transfer box as well, fast becoming not a T2 me thinks, Rick

You're seeing things Rick, I'm sure it was on the left :thumb2

No it was on the right

Sas the mav mate yes

As in do a solid axle swap on your maverick ( it is a mav if I remember correctly )

A Dana 44 (jeep) or a early hilux front is what the ausies and yanks favour on the wd21 front ( same running gear )

These axles have diff on correct side and you can get a 1:4.3 Toyota ratio which is plenty close to the common 1:4.375 rear most 2.7 Terrano rears have

Nop just checked 29th pic down, 1st on the 5th row deff on the right, Rick
