even if it doesn't help it hasn't cost anything and at least it will be one thing ruled out :thumb2

thing is petes truck has a different maf

Makeitfit has smaller and longer tubing I think and his is the flexi stuff that creates turbulance, he's had no issues
I'm on 65mm pipe I think it was but I bet it's no longer than yours and only a short bit of it is flexi :thumbs
What I was suggesting was a bit of water making it's way to the maf will cause a "missfire" effect for a while and maybe even limp mode. I've had it a couple of times driving in torrential downpours and at speed. Goes again pretty quick, though I've got a little drain point at the lowest point of the snorkel and again in the bottom of the airbox, so any water build up will drain away.

I run 63mm snorkel with about half of it is flexi ribbed stuff. No issues but again same maf as pete.

No problems with hitting large puddles with the snorkel top facing forwards too.

What about condensation on my metal snorkle pipe ?

I have some water marks past my filter, runs very well and seems to have more power when raining too.

I still think - disconect it and see what happens !

ok, so the loss of power is like every 3 miles in the wet, but hardly ever in the dry, in fact it was dry yesterday and it didnt do it once in 20 miles.

I'm thinking it must be the maf

@ Fez: What make is your maf ?

We're both on Hitachi mate so it could be the Bosch one you've got is more sensitive to damp :augie
Have you tried a few days driving in the wet without the snorkel attached ?

Not yet, just done the water pump and it blew a powersteering pipe off yesterday, then I'm doing oil and last 2 glow plugs, might just buy a new maf tbh

Bloody money pit :D

At least the bosch maf is a cheap one :thumbs Good luck

Right, after this problem of sporadic loss of power being totally horrendous yesterday, it hasn't happened at all today :doh

I think, it only happens when low on fuel, when fuel light is on

Never used to do it tho, when low on fuel, and odd how it resets when ignition turned off then on again

Stinka, didn't someone here say about a filter on the fuel pickup pipe, appears you have possibly found the problem though....just keep that tank filled mate

Yeh, filter or not i dont see how it could reset its self when turned on and off

could it just be that when the engine stops whatever crap it has sucked up just drops back into the bottom of the tank? maybe loose scale or something

:nenau

Hmm, good point, looks like I'm going to be taking pump out for a lookie

With all the rock climbing your truck does, just imagine what the shite in your tank is doing and when empty, that pickup pipe will suck it up and block the mesh.
