Nahhh.. when I saw him earlier, he said Alex could have the kennel at the end of the garden... can't leave Alex alone in a Workshop with all those spanners...:augie:lol

Alex and spanners, Ricks safe there then :augie

Wonder if the kennel has a gate :lol

+3

If you want a silly yet effective test, turn the ignition on, let the glow light go out, wait until you hear a click about 15 seconds in, repeat process 2 times, the on third ignition wait until glow light goes out, watch how easy it starts, if It is this will prove glow plugs (unless they are dead altogether) :thumb2

This is what I had to do when mine were goosed :thumb2

Don't get the tipped glow, plugs, make sure they are solid one piece as the tips break off :)

Right I have done all of the above and it is still having trouble starting. When it does eventually start a cloud of smoke comes out the exhaust and then it's fine. Run it for 5 minutes or so, switch off and go to turn it back on again and it starts first time without any issues??? I haven't changed the glow plugs yet.

Get your glow plugs changed then :)

There's a recent photo walk through on here

Yep what Firebobby said, they are easy to change, the intercooler comes off with 4 bolts and loosening the jubilee clips for the air hoses.

Once that's out the way remove the "buzz bar" (metal arm along the top of the glow plugs) again only 4 bolts I believe, and then remove the glow plugs (inline front to back center of the engine)

****as mentioned if you have a T bar it would help**** sometimes they can he seized or difficult to remove so take care and make sure you loosen it off straight! don't twist it at an angle as you may wreck the thread :thumb2

When you fit the new ones, put some sort of grease on the thread and give the buzz bar a little clean up :thumb2

Easy job but take care whilst doing it. Good luck, if you get stuck let us know.

EDIT --- oh, and don't overtighten the new ones, hand tight with tool, then a nip up, don't go mad!

when doing work on the " buzz bar " .. might be a good idea to disconnect the battery to avoid " accidental shorting " :augie
