Very nice HB,You'll be able to blind me up here with them.

spotlights

like the position of the lights, but not sure about the rally car pod. :| also looks like you would need a hydraulic cylinder to lift up the bonnet with all that weight on it. if it was sprayed up to match your motor i think it would look smart.its good to be different

Can't decide whether to paint it body colour or matt black.

Its not too heavy but then I've not tried opening the bonnet yet I suppose. The whole thing is quick release and will only be fitted when I want to use it.

Everything aimed at 4x4 use seems to be rubbishy ring or similar lights, coming from rallying I know what real lights are so decided to fit some, the pods from a sierra cosworth (or might have been escort cosworth can't remember tbh) and the lights are all cibie turini's with 100watt bulbs fitted, I've got another 2 light units with a different beam pattern but going to give thes a go first.

Very nice HB :p :p :p Glad you have got around to doing it as it was a while back when you mentioned your idea. Sorry not being funny  but it looks as if the lower parts could do with a surport bracket. From the shape of the pod I would think it's off an Escort :? oh I think body colour would suit best

HB What about cooling rad ,would they restrict airflow, power drain on battery.unless yoiure fitting 2 batteries with split charger.

Cooling should be fine, main cooling is done through th bumper holes but they don't block the "grill" off just obscure the route to it for the air but I doubt it will be a problem - anyway its cooler at night so shouldn't be a issue.

Standard alternator should cope - just with them but really I'll be looking to fit a bigger or second one, a second battery would only let you go a bit furter before it went flat its the size of the alternator that is key. Having said that I am looking to fit a second battery but thats cos I'm planning to fit a winch - different proposition altogether.

you want good lights look for kc daylighters not cheap but i promise you they will light up way more than any other light with the exception of lightforces

Simons done the "whats in the shed" when it comes to lights, and the Cibie Turino's are a pretty dam good light, with a massive motorsport pedigree. KC's are good, as are lightforce, but I guess Simon, like a lot of us, will make use of whatever he's got to hand.

I've got some Hella Comet's that I'm probably going to fit to the roof rack, not a patch on the decent hella lights like the Rallye, but they are sat in my shed and won't cost me anything.

Plus I have a feeling that due to the large anti vibration washers on a set of KC's, they'd be a bit of a pig to fit to the front bumper of a T2 - plus they're quite heavy, IIRC?

Over the years I've sat (competitively) behind more sets of spotlights than I care to remember, though never any Lightforce ones but TBH they're just too expensive, might as well have HID from one of the other manufacturers.

IMHO PIAA are the best, especially the twin filament H4 Pro 80 series lights.

Daylighters are good by virtue of coming as standard with 150watt bulbs (or sealed beams) fitted but put 130's in any of their competitors and I think they're better. When it comes to lights bigger is better as there can be less compromises in the reflector design.

After PIAA lights I'd rate Cibie Turini's, Hella Rallye 3000/2000, Cibie Oscar and Super Oscars especially the newer Oscar Complex designs, Bosch Jumbos used to be good but you can't get them any longer. Even the old Lucas 20/20s aren't bad - got some of those somewhere, been toying with putting some on my van.

Hi Hummingbird.

Sorry and i dont mean to be rude, But the lights would look ok on a rally car, a 1972 Escort, Mexico maybe! 8O .

But on a Maverick! i am not so sure.

Just my opinion.
