got asked during the week if I would be interested in helping cut some trees down and if I did I could have the wood, need less to say jumped at it, had the whole day felling and cutting, got the car trailer loaded with 8 builders bags and there are still 6 trees on the ground that we cut today and about 4 more that were felled some time ago, all for clearing, I will be running out of space at home at this rate, but this stuff is not for burning for a couple of years, forgotten the name of it :doh will remember given time but nice to have some for winters ahead, but absolutely foofted now, looking forward to a really hot bath curtesy of the sun, and a good helping of red wine, Rick

Looks like you are sorted with logs, anything u can do to speed upntgecseasoning process ? Heat/chemicals/dehumidifier ?

There can also be good money to be made in keeping some to plank into stock for joiners and the like, depending on the tree :sly

I came across a pile of wood and branches that had been dumped in the middle of lane by some lovely men, you know, the type who knock on your door and ask if you need your trees pruning or drive tarmacking.
Any way, I loaded my van with plenty of logs that were cut just right, the local busy body thought he'd caught me red handed, until he realised I was actually taking some away :lol

yes absolutely foofed and foofed again, need a new chain for the saw, used 2 gallons fuel and my hands are vibration affected, re the seasoning no this stuff will have to go the natural route Sycamore is the tree take two years but worth it, Rick

do not think Sycamore any good? but even if it is got to cut it up to man sized chunks to get it out as has to be carried 100 mtrs over rough ground, Rick

I use a battery circular saw quicker than a jig saw, but to my mind still a right pain, Rick

We burn bog wood, the farmers pull it from the fields as they plough then pile it up down the lanes, easy picking and it burns so hot, garage if full anyone who lives in the country should go looking for this stuff, comes in all shapes and sizes but does need drying out for a year or so when its been lifted. If you need to cut it into manageable pieces, its black inside just like coal, but smells lovely when burnt..

you need some chains rick ? I have several in a drawer here that don't fit my electric makita chainsaw, can't remember sizes off the top of my head but if you let me know what you need I'll have a look later.:thumb2
