FWIW, here's a pic of the receiver tube for my front mounted hitch.
As I recall the M12 fixings are on 70mm centres.

By going up to 35 mm be careful you do not weaken the plate, personally I would like to see that a bit wider/beffyer, but nice bit of kit, at the pay and play sites I have regularly anchored to a marshals front mounted ball with an 8 tonne block designed for the purpose, but only ever for steady winching and with dyneema, Rick

That was my concern initially and the plate is 50mm wide and 25mm thick so it should be strong enough even if I beef it up to maybe 30mm pin :nenau. Some peoples recovery points scare me to death  at least this provides a safe simple option as long as you have a tow bar.

Valid point mate but its something I'm looking at for peoples that have no idea where recovery points are on their 4x4 for members of 4x4 rescue groups etc etc. Easy to fit and easy and safe to use, you can get to it without having to roll about under the truck and most 4x4s have tow bars.

Fair point well made :thumbs

I could have it shorter and just a simple hole for the shackle to go through :thumb2
Nice mod mate for manoeuvring trailers/caravans about :thumb2

Also remember when pulling big loads or snatch recovery, use a short bridle between both chassis legs. Know body likes a wonky chassis

like, have also used a large ish shackle around neck of ball, so much better than
risking a rope coming off ball and indeed neck is going to be stronger than ball.

recall on trol had fixed loop above step bumper.

current towbar has 2 pairs of 16mm bolt holes so wonder if had ball on upper then
one of these on lower. would also make nice place for breakaway cable which when
had ball/jaw on troll would route round jaw pin.

Thats what alot of newer tow bar set ups are like, so you can adjust the hieght for towing but if your not using the bottom holes this would make perfect sense :thumb2
Possibly be able to make them for £20 each plus postage cant supply the bolts or shackle for that price though.

its a phrase one of the inspectors at work uses.
Call that a fillet it looks more like a sausage the f***********:lol:lol

I'd have one but always always always using the tow bar :(

I collect Oil everyday at the moment

I'm interested as well but like Banshee I use the tow bar every day. Would need to fit "as well as " the ball rather than "instead of."
