As its like a sponge and was sodden with all the wading I've done

Solid underneath bar 2 spots one as nsr seat belt point (outside of that is solid and under sealed) and a bit on osr boot by filler pipe

Removed rear heater ducts, will tape all looms up with gaffer tape so they don't get snagged. Can't believe the amount of holes in the floor where the grommets have perished, no wonder carpets get sodden its like a bloody Swiss cheese :D

Will remove these 5mm grommets from under floor, fill holes with sikaflex and then put a square of gaffer over them when it's gone off

Much better IMO now for offroading as carpet was filthy and soaked

Found hole in my floor yesterday near to same seat belt point as yours mines getting ready for some tlc

Near wheel arch where seat base sits on floor started the size of a marble after a bit of poking can get me fist in it know

Interested to see opinions on this bit of rust ? Seems like surface rust as its solid when poked, hmmm

first thing to do is get that bitumen stuff off as it will be under there too, thats more than likely where the worst bit will be, as for wheel arches being ok because under sealed i wouldn't count on it on my old truck all the under seal was fine bu the seat belt mounts were rotten right through

I cleaned up all inside the arches with a flap disk and wire brush, shiney metal red oxide then waxoyl, I did a thread on it when I first joined

Seat belt anchors are solid and rust free as are the arches, had to chop a bit out at bottom front end of the rear arch on both sides but that was it

See that bit there ^ the verticle metal that forms the inside of the wheel arch extends below the boot floor and kind of sticks down, it's totally solid and rot free inside the arch, it will be the boot floor above the chassis rail, a right twat to get to.

I guess I'd have to cut the arch out right the way across where it sticks vertically below the boot floor and cut the boot floor back 2 " then form a angle piece to weld in all the way along, but the chassis rail would be right in the fooking way

Will leave it for now see how it develops, looks like that will be body lift time as well if I start messing with it

common places for them to rust, near seatbelt mounts at at the joins with floor/arch.

I wouldn't worry about it.

yep, its only single skinned anyway, mine got through mot like that just fine, and tbh where it is it make it stronger as the weight lays on it instead of pushing against it

Is that ur old one ? Got any more pics from further away mate ?

yea its the old one, sorry thats all the pics i have in the 1st one you can see the chassis rail

i found it in same place as where urs is after i had done this

I saw the photos from Stinka and thought to my self you jammy sod for having a floor in such good condition.

Last year I started to pull up the carpet back in the boot as it was also damp :(

To my horror, the more carpet I pulled back, the more I discovered that most of the floor of my T2 was infact just carpet :eek: and now I could examine any part of the drive under my truck via the aditional view ports created in the floor by many years of steel chomping rust to which I was completely oblivious.:eek:

If it had been a few holes I may have tackled it myself but in despair I handed it to the local coachworks :( who decided the only way to deal with it was to cut out most of the floor and replace with new metal. They did a really good tidy job but it cost me £600.

Oh yes, I forgot to say..... while we're on this subject

Has anyone dared to take off the wheel arch trims to have a look ...... I did and found that the trim is my wheel arch and the metal around the arches that the trim is supposed to be attached to is virtually gone.

This was the first thing I did, I posted a thread when I joined, although the pics have since been accidentally deleted from my photobucket account

I took all plastic off arches and front and rear bumpers inner arch liners etc, ground back all rot to shiney as it was only surface and I caught it in time. I then red oxided the shiney and daubed on loads if nice waxoyl all over inner arches and on outer arches where liners covered

Preservation ;)

Would that be front or rear arches?
