Hello to all of you!

I'm Thomas, a belgian (sorry for my English) off-roader with a terrano II ('98) and I'm looking to adjust my T2 a bit. Here in Belgium there's only little interest in T2's and a small (after)market for the T2, so that's the reason why I signed in on this forum. Looks like there are a lot of T2 fans out here.

Before I adjust my ride (most likely in the same order as in the title) I'm looking for some pictures of adjusted T2 as well as links to parts etc.
That way I hope to find some inspiration and I'll get an idea of what is possible with a T2.

I haven't found much untill now and it would be easy to have all the pictures (and links) in one topic...

hello Tommeke, welcome to the club, there is nothing wrong with you wrong with your english, there should be a few of the lads on later to help with your truck, as quite a few have modded their trucks. :thumb2:naughty

Hi Tommeke, welcome to the club, you will find lots of information on this site, and photographs of the modifications which you wish to carry out on your Terrano. regards, bri

Hi Tom

There will be lots of advice I'm sure, but depends on how radical you want to be.

If you don't want to go too mad, the following are good compromises for some of your requirements:

1. Suspension - check your levels front to rear. Its best to have the front maybe 2cms lower than the back....if its more, you can raise it by adjusting the torsion bars (there is a download here somewhere) - worth doing anyway as they tend to sag because of the heavy engine. Oh and if you have side steps/towbar take them off, it makes a lot of difference to ground clearance.

2. Wheels - if you keep 15" wheels there is a wider selection of tyres, but its generally accepted that 31"s will fit on with minimal effort. You can get wheels from some of the other Japanese 4x4s as the PCD is fairly standard, although offset can vary, sometimes beneficially by widening the track a little. Kumho KL71s are widely recommended as a good cost-effective compromise 4x4 tyre.

3. Air intake....if you are fitting a snorkel, then a K&N filter in the existing airbox will help a little....if not, then a full K&N induction kit (the 57i) is better.

Others will help with more radical stuff, but remember the more you raise suspension, the more you affect geometry and risk other premature wear.
Oh and since I know its more easily available on the continent, if its the 2.7TDi you have, then it will run well on high ratios of SVO (vegetable oil) without modification, to reduce running costs.

Hi guys,

thanks for the replies so far. I don't know yet how far or how mad I would like to go with the mod's because the car is our daily-drive vehicle, but all the info is welcome.

I would very much like looking at the proposed albums, but I don't know where to start. Probably I'm looking over the links, but anyone who can explain it?

Tom, to look at albums, either check out threads for links to photobucket, or for the ones that Adz mentions, just click the users name and you'll go to their personal page, where some of them have photo albums.

If you are using it as a daily ride, the mods I mentioned are almost as far as you want to go really if you want to keep the thing driveable and not have stuff breaking all the time :)

@lacroupade: Thanks for the usefull info so far. Found the links to the albums and I've seen some nice pics already...

@extreme-4x4: another vision? Looking at your nick, I wouldn't be suprised :D

And if I'm looking for a little lift? Not to much, so I will still be able to ride onroad, but still, a few cm's would be welcome.

(a body lift will not work as it is prohibited here in Belgium)

Tom does that mean a suspension lift is OK?

sounds big. Didn't know that that was possible...

Tom yo need to know he has a big grinder! :)

But 31s will go on with no modifications apparently....best fitted to 15" wheels as there is a wider selection of offroad tyres available in that fitment becaue of the LandRover.....
