Not sure where to post this so i'll put it here cos it's engine related !

My '96 Maverick has developed a taste for fuses.
Well, one particular fuse.
In the fuse box, it's on the top row, first from the left, in ignition section.

What happens is this; engine starts as normal. Let it idle a brief period and then as soon as i press the accelerator pedal, the fuse blows, the engine stops and i have no dash warning lights. The engine still turns over but the electrics appear dead.

Put a new fuse in, and all returns to normal, until it decides to pop that fuse again.

Currently running a 15 amp fuse in a 10 amp hole, which obviously isn't a solution

Anyone got any ideas ?????

well its fly by wire with a throttle sensor on top of the actual pedal....bit of a PITA to get at but could be bolloxed or a short somewhere? Sounds like a cheap scrapper might be the way to go cos we've not seen many failures on here....?

But someone with better knowledge of vehicle electrics might suggest something different....have you looked in the manual to see what that fuse covers???
