The Hearse has a new MoT !!

Well it was MoT time for the Chrysler 300 CRD Estate yesterday had arranged for a mate to fit the two new front lower castor control arms on Saturday to sort out the front suspension clunking on poor road surfaces. A hefty £180 for the parts but they are Blueprint so should last better than the originals that have only managed 16,000 miles from new.

The car came from Co Durham area so I guess it did the first 8,000 miles on cobled streets that said the 300C is renown for front suspension weakness.

It had an oil service & Mot, failed on foot operated handbrake having no reserve travel, re-tested later same day after adjustment - passed with no advisories but so it should with only 16, 700 odd miles on the clock from new.

Hopefully it should give me the next 12 months motoring without cost but I won't hold my breath!

What no cobbled side streets in the Arctic Circle ?

We're not living in the dark ages up here you know:lol:lol almost no cobbled roads at all left in the NE apart from a couple that are listed like the rest of the country

Funny you should say that when I went to Bradford and also to Sheffield a couple of years ago I was staggered at how many side streets are still cobbled.

I obviously wrongly assumed that the further north you go the more olde wordly the roads were. Obviously not your A roads but Sheffield is awash with cobbled side street leading to period rows of terraced houses.

OMG Bradford & Sheffield is in the south :lol:lol:lol TBH there are only a couple of roads I can think of in Newcastle which have been left cobbled & no we don't all wear flat caps, own whippets or work in the mines as no mines left:lol:lol:lol

Nice side effect from suspension fix !

Well have driven the Black Beast for a few days now and the front suspension rattle has gone but the other interesting side effect is the slight low speed brake flutter 25-15 mph that it has always had has gone.

I always assumed it was a bit of disc run out due to it being such low mileage and figured out it was a lump where the pads had stood quietly rusting. Looks as though it was in fact the suspension bushes being worn wobbling about a bit under braking.

The technician called the replaced suspension parts lower front castor arms and he did say both ends were worn. The rubber bushes were splitting from the steel insert and the ball jointed ends that fit into the lower part of the front hub were also worn.
