I bought Colin's (extreme) old T2 and have sold it on again to my mate(still so far):augie
Trouble is now it wont start  It's been stood for a few months but did run before that. Usual suspects have been checked and seem ok, battery, starter, key etc.
However there is no fuel being squirted out of the injectors :nenau
Fuel flow is fine upto and passed filter:)
Could there be some immobiliser at work?
Any ideas?

is it fly by wire? if so any electrical bad connection will do it, if not then shut of solenoid could have failed (rare) more likely bad connection to it, if you are going to ask me details it will have to wait to the morning as I only have petrols but I have harlow mavs in the yard at the mo so could look on his am Rick

Cheers Rick, yep it's fly by wire.:thumbs
Morning time is good shut off solenoid sounds right to as everything else is spinning round but no diesel coming out

OK but harlow mavs is not fly by wire, fly by wire it could be anything, I had a FBW late Range Rover, water in the fuel got into the pump and corroded some wires cost me a grand for a new pump, only vehicle I ever broke down with and could do nothing, in over a million miles, Rick

fbw does not have a shut off solenoid as such, best you can do is check all the connecting plugs, if any evidence of water in the fuel filter then that is the worst, sorry, Rick

My Terrano just wouldn't start some mornings and in the end I changed the battery for new and never have a problem now. These diesel lumps need some turning over and a tin pot battery won't cut the mustard.

Start with a check of manual page EC-376 ~ 379.

The red one or my old automatic?

Try a *little* sniff of easy start. Just incase the fuel line is airlocked. If it doesnt show any signs of continuing to run after then you're gunna have to delve alot deeper.

WD40 does the same job on a diesel, spray into the air intake, after the filter, while cranking.

The RAC did this on my Vectra, the fuel had run back to the tank, while at the airport for 2 weeks.

There was an air leak in a return pipe.

LMAO?

Looks like I bagged a good one then!!

Good job I have plenty Terrano's & Mavericks to rob for parts :augie

So here's to the future of getting covered in oil & mud......and hot bits from all the welding.
