my teranno has been parked up for a year now only move it in and out of garage when i need to get other motors in.
the alarm system is a single key fob with two buttons on it.
to start truck open door turn ignition on ,dash lights come on ,press button on fob a relay clicks and then turn key to start possision engine turns over and starts.
if you dont press button then turn key to start possision it just clicks
dash lights/head lights DONT DIM .

HAVE JUST REPLACED BATTERY IN FOB still same ressults .

used to hear relay click on passanger side footwell then it would start.

fob used to lock/unlock doors but doesnt now.
I dont think this is a factory fitted alarm .
would it have been wired into the ignition start wire then through the control side of the alarm then back to ignition start cable .
does the start cable go to the starter solinoid.

my thoughts are jump cable to solinoid from battery to get it to turn over ,then maybe remove stop solinoid .
hopefully this would get it going so i can cut the grass.
YOUR THOUGHTS

Personally I would trace all the alarm wires and remove, the chances are it will have original wiring loom wires that have been cut and connected to the alarm wires. Bridge the joints get it started and take it for an MOT and stop messing about with that disco:thumbs

hi jt only trouble is ive got to find the alarm before i can attack it.
hence need a starting point so looking at wiring from ignition barrel.

if it does immobilize the starter there should be a wire from the selonoid to a relay(somewhere)hence the click when you press the button.
you say you have replaced the fob batteries so you might have to re-program the fob.
not knowing what sort of alarm it is makes it difficult to give you any real advice.
have you tried turning the ignition on then holding down both buttons on the fob to see if anything happens.
this used to re-set the fob on my old alarm:nenau
good luck:thumbs

When I first has my Mav, I had no end of trouble with the alarm, going off at all sorts of times and then not letting the truck start. In the end, I spent a whole Saturday tracing all of the alarm wiring and removing it completely. Problem solved.

thanks for replys.
will have a look next week if it ever stops raining.
i replaced the batterys once before all i did was swap them out.
i dont think its the battery in the remote thats the trouble .
truck battery had gone flat over a time so all i did to start it was hang a start charger on it . it started ok for a few days then things went pair shaped same symptoms as described above but it down to truck battery dead again but its not .
as i said thanks for replys.

WELL ITS STOPPED RAINING GRASS GROWING UNDER MY FEET AND THE TERRANO.:doh
SO set to tonight followed the cable from siran through bulkhead went to passenger side behind glove box .
WHERE IT ENTERED ALARM CONTROL BOX
ITS IN THE SAME PLACE I LEFT IT AFTER REPLACING HEATER MATRIX. :doh:doh:doh
Traced alarm loom across behind centre consul through to back of fuse box.
Found wires from ignition switch had been spliced and some more had the same treatment in back of fuse box. ANYWAY FOUND MY SNIPS AND HAD A GOOD TIME .
RESULT ENGINE TURNED OVER BUT WOULDNT START .
HAD ANOTHER LUCK AT FUSE BOX BLACK WIRES HAD BEEN PIGGY BACKED
SO CUT THEM AND JOINED THEM TOGETHER . RESULT .

I got to the point when doing mine where I had so many cables, connectors and bits of tape etc. that I wondered if it would ever work again. Nice to hear that engine start up first time ! :clap

hi lee .
it looks worse tha it is .
thick black cable from ignition switch had been cut in half and loose ends connected to 2 seperate alarm cables coming out of alarm cotrol box .
THIS CABLE GOES TO STARTER SOLINOID.
2 black cables had been cut and had the same treatment .
these i joined together .
THIS CABLE GOES TO THE FUEL SHUT OFF.
The rest of the cables were connected to door locks ,curtesy light switches ,movement sensers, red led flashing light.
most of the cables had been piggy backed .
ALL JOINTS WERE SOLDERED THEN TAPED OVER.
JUST GOT TO SOLDER THE RE JOINTED CABLES TOGETHER AGAIN .

Hi Dinky.
short answer NO.
dont know what to do with it ,
still running the DiscoDuck.
Original idea was to run it on the nfmoc green lanes days .
But when they cut the hours at work i lost about £450 per month,so its shot that idea down in flames .
Thought about putting it on e bay or something ,dont want to scrap it but it could come to that.
Shame to break it realy though.
just wonts an mot ,its not worth much even with an mot so dont want to bother with it.
DOES ANYONE WANT IT .
