hi again all, in response to rustics post & the way he drives his t2, on our street at the moment is deep soft snow 6" approx, if i had to use this in the same way something would literally explode (diff or transfer box, whatever is at fault) there is no way on earth i could drive this at 30mph while the front hubs are engaged, for example. pull away in 4wd, stop & select 2wd, the vibration is unbelievable, the dash, windows, steering wheel, everything possible vibrates & it worsens with speed, as soon as i reverse to disengage the front hubs it's PERFECT!

Front Diff Braking Effect

Tried my Mav 96 in 4WD and get the same braking effect, rumbling and reluctant to answer the steering. Whats a wound up diff and how do I sort it?

You only get transmission windup when its anything less than seriously pi55ing with rain.

Its unusual to get it on the straight ahead, but definitely identifiable when doing tight turns and worst of all when reversing on full lock - you'll feel the truck skipping as the tyres absorb the windup.

4WD on these should only be used when its very slippery, i.e. snow, mud, very heavy rain, marbles on road etc..

At the end of the day I've never heard of anyone biggering their diff by using 4WD in the dry though (you'd have to give it some serious, continuous and vigorous welly to do that I suspect), but your tyres won't be very happy :thumb2
