I only have one for the petrol model, do not know if they are the same, what numbers do you have on yours, Rick

there's no numbers but this is the sensor, conector has broken off

Yea I got one like that, you can solder a wire to the connector and use a chock block if the sensor is good it should read around 2.5 k ohms at room temperature, no problem, Rick

The sensor was giving in accurate reading so I cheaked it, hence the reason for it breaking, I pulled the connector off to check it and thats when the sensor broke, had gone brittle:doh

OK but the tag was only ever pressed on to the sensor, the fact it came off only indicates it was loose anyway, hence no reading on your gauge, test the sensor as it is now, if it reads around 2.5 k ohms (that is 2500 ohms) then it is OK and just needs a wire soldering to the central connector and refitting to your motor, you know of course that there is another sensor that is for the brain only to monitor the engine temperature, Rick

Cheers rick, i'll attempt to solder the sensor and see what happens:thumb2 there seems to be 3 sensors, one as you say for the brain to monitor, one for the gauge and another one for something

I don't know how good you are at soldering, so just in case, before you start make sure you run a fine file over the top to get it nice and clean and shiny.

You want it to solder as quick as possible, as too much heat will damage it and the flux in the solder can take too long on something old, greasy and tarnished.

That is part of the reason they rivet them, as the failure rate is quite high when they have 6 year old kids soldering them up:D

:lol cheers, yup I can solder fairly good so, I'll give it a try. And rick, don't sell the sensor just in case I bugger somthing up :augie:doh
