Some people here getting their knickers in a twist for someone mere opinion on style and looks haha

Don't take it to heart people

Not in hiding just been working, sorry guys but with that big spare wheel in the middle and the car being so narrow, it reminds me of one of those sit and ride toys with the steering wheel moved from the front to the back.

Look on the bright side it is over 12 hours since I spotted it and thinking about it still brings a smile to my face, just out of interest can you turn the spare and if you can do the front wheels move?

track width of mine is 1850 on the rear and 1800 on the front but I am running on 33 12.50 15 tyres.:thumb2

Track width will vary depending on the rubber fitted and the tyre offset (lower spec Y61s had narrower tyres and different offset) but at 1,940 mm body width the Trols are fairly chunky :augie

the terrano body is narrow compared to the length and height of the overall truck and standard ones do look skinny.:lol

It what you got, it's what you do wi it:lol

Cracking thread with a bit of banter.
:clap

And Nissan had to off set the spare wheel om trols cos one of the doors aint wide enough for a spare to fit:lol

I am going to call the smaller door on the back of my Patrol "Terrano" as it is too narrow, on my Trooper the smaller door was approx a third of the opening and quite useable but the Patrol is only about a quarter of the opening meaning I have to open both most of the time.

I must admit, when used to think of the Terrano, I had only ever noticed the bulk standard entry spec Terrano, that does look skinny, and always has droopy front suspension. I never liked the look of them at all.

It was not until I saw that they also did the nicer looking two tone ones, with a few bells and whistles, that I realised that there was a different Terrano with wheel arch extensions, and the all manly side steps. With the extra couple of inches added to the sides, in a contrasting colour, adds a psychological trick of the eye, which makes it bit wider and a lot smarter.

What I do like though, is it does fit into Tesco's parking bays, which most 4x4's don't.

The other thing is, you can fit through gaps that other drivers think you won't.

Many a time drivers hold back to let you through, when in all fairness the gap looks plenty big enough to me.:augie

What they see is a large 4x4 coming their way, they don't get their slide rule out to see if the gap is wide enough...:augie

I always wave to thank them, even if it was technically my right of way.
:thumb2

The problem in the Patrol is that I do not fit through the gaps I think I will and end up with bumpers like this.

like idea of steering truck using spare, something thought of years ago, when collected
brittains tractors that steered, even their lorry steered via the raised air intake but
the landy with bonnet spare didnt :(

like the t2 being compact for laning though wish was tardis like as rear seat is a squeeze
for 3, better to see 7 seater as 6 seater. mind makes the caravan look even bigger as
it appears to dwarf the t2, despite being a good match....though trol was better.

agreed loving bit of banter, welcome aboard btw :)

Yeah right

Parked in Sainsburys's tonight next to a Terano first time I have seen one in the flesh so to speak. I assumed that as they are 2.7/3.0 engine and 7 seaters that they where similar to Patrols but how wrong I was, what funny looking cars they are ! sorry if upset anybody but honestly they are disproportionally narrow and look so wrong no wonder they fall over greenlining.
They look small next to Patrol but the length and height of the car needs more width most of the back is taken up by spare wheel.
I know I should not speak bad of the Terano as lots of people on here seem to like them but 2 hours on and I am still chuckling to my self when I think of it.

Russell.

I take it you are bored with poking fun at the local schoolkids? The TERRANO is a great vehicle, I have to use narrow country lanes, JUST enough room for two to pass. The Range Rover following me has to stop hard! I whizz through. It turns into a large VAN in SECONDS! How many can do that? I saw one for sale the other day with 195,000 miles on the clock, and still going strong.
Anyway, when you are stuck in the snow, I hope you won't be wanting a tow out.
Now bugger off.......

You might want to edit that before you run out of time. A bit harsh innit ?
Light hearted banter is all
