dave . im glad we all had a chance to discuss the varied views on the welsh lanes, to be honest you seem quite reasonable. after all we all want the same thing.

so would you like to come to one of our meets down here or maybe we could do one in mid/north wales and you could show us around up there

perhaps we could meet up to discuss the way forward with regard to the powys problem, the summer is here and its the right time to start fighting back.
we have a planning officer here in this club who offered some help before maybe his understanding of the laws could be useful. we also have other law people here too. im sure they will be only too pleased to help or advise

there are loads of unaffiliated 4x4 drivers around who want to do something but don't know where to start. 2009 could be the time we win our lane back , it will be good for everyone and it will bring the 4x4 community together

Excellent idea, I'd bring in Mark Margetts as well who lives near newtown and has had considerable dealings with Powys in the past, there's a CRAG meeting in mid wales

Mark also has links into GLASS, Tread Lightly and LARA, you may well see the post I made on the recent victory against north yorks national park TRO's.
Could be used against powys/BBNPA................
If we can collectively bring enough firepower to bear, we could potentially bring a case sufficient to make the authority/council reconsider its decision.

i think what is needed (within bbnp or powys) . is a meeting of similar minded people . with these trucks to have a one day meeting at say brecon or similar. on a weekend
bring the town to a stand still not by causing problems or obstruction. but just by sheer mass and overloading the roads.
park up in a friendly field then every hour or two do a parade through the streets in the town.

not as an aggressive protest as such, more of a show of numbers . it will undoubtedly attract plenty of press attention...
with the press aroused we could show the communities what the councils are doing to avoid there responsibilities and closing the lanes

im sure there are plenty of land owners with the opposite problem willing to question how the councils can do this.

so what meeting will you be at, i will come and meet you. if your interested ill start collecting info of other outsiders who will be willing to take part
estimate 3-400 at my end

if its done right we could show the councils they have a big problem, we could also win some brownie points with the police and press if its done right

I've posted your idea on the CRAG site as well............... I think its a good idea and if handled right, supported by flyers etc, it could be very powerful.

We need to be squeaky clean though and involve police etc in the planning of the event so that no one can have a handle to criticise.

we did the sarn and a mud track /road between banwen and coelbren sarn

oh and pete got stuck but only a tiny bit . he got extreme recovery

only me and pete drove it as its v hard to get to, albeit a road (somehow)
i just drove through it pete got stuck and i had to reverse half the track to recover him

Right then here we go while poor old ADZ is cruisin' the M4 etc I'll show you lot some of the w/e pics
Adz got up at 4 of the clock to get here for morning time (Welsh o'clock) with the shineyestest £400 of maverick you ever did see
So we had to oblige and get him some mud time :lol
Sun was shining once we got his side steps off:augie

We had a jolly LEGAL cruise along the Sarn and for the first time saw EXTREME stop in panic
RED car + chuffing great bull = brown trousers:augie

You'll have to believe me it's a big black thing in the background:lol

We stopped for a refuel and debrief and were a little concerned we'd enrolled a wrong 'ne , as Adz started to clean his windows:nenau must have got a fly on there or something:lol

Later on after some er "modifications" to his pride n joy we went off to extremes favourite muddy bottom!
Trouble was the track down there was a bit too er thick and rutty and overgrown even for us to spoil his pretty car. So adz came onboard with me for a laugh:doh This may need a trim soon

I'm sure Adz will be sticking loads of pics on when he's crossed a few more time zones so in the mean time here's a few bonus pics of the rally we crashed!
