Suz's T2, is a Late 2002, and has the dash with the built in outside temp display in the LCD with the Mileage, trip and clock.

I noticed when we got it, up in the top left, by the clock, is what looks like a small clock symbol displayed... I always thought this was just an idiot symbol to tell you at a glance, which one of the digit sets is the clock.

While out in the car with her, yesterday, the car started making an electronic ponging sound, which seemed to come from the dash board. It ponged about 6 or 8 times, then stopped. Not the lights on alarm, which is a series of short peeps, this was a proper "Pong", like when they put the seat belts sign on, on an aeroplane.

Suz said it had done it a few times, and she thought it was to do with the Traffic Announcement on the radio, but later in the journey, a traffic announcement came on, and there was no "Pong".

It did it in the middle of a 25mile journey, just as we went through the Dartford tunnel, but did not do it on the return journey, and it has not done it with me in the car, on any of the other journeys we have done before, even along the same route.

I can't see anything about it, so was wondering if anyone on here has any ideas.

Maybe the little clock symbol, a service warning light, and is the "Ponging" a reminder...

anyone any ideas?

cant help but its asking you to do the ping sound so it can pong.

Pong, what a lovely word, pong, pong, pong

It's nice to say :lol

I've not a clue on this one matey, Traffic Alert was going to be my out of the box answer but already covered so I'm not sure.

How about disconnecting the 12v power source to any non-standard accessories that you have fitted to the truck just in case it's one of those?

I had a CB once that had a built in meter that measured the current being delivered to it and if it dropped below a certain level the internal beeper went off, had to download the specific manual to work that one out :doh

If I think of anything else I'll be back :thumb2

Maybe it's a warning telling you to change socks :nenau:D

Hmmm, I'll tell her that, and then remind her next time we are up in Norwich...:lol:lol

:lol:lol

Can you remember what time it was when it happened, it might be an alarm and the symbol may be to tell you there is an alarm set :nenau I'll look in my owners book to see if mine has one, mine is a 2000 with the same dash as suz.

:lol:lol

Hmmmm... it was at some point between 3pm and 3:30pm I guess. Surely they don't have an alarm... mind you with all these people turning them into campers...:lol

I now got home and thumbed through the owners manual from front to back and found nowt about a clock symbol :nenau
I've looked at your early jiggly thread photos and can see the clock on one of them. It's the same dash as mine too:nenau

Do you have the clock symbol?

Suz saod it did it again tonight on the way home, and is convinced it is the traffic announcer. The thing is, when I was in the car and it did it, there was no traffic announcement and the cd stayed playing, but much later there was a traffic announcement but no pongs.

I can't see the symbol but I'll have another look tomorrow.
Do you still have the original radio with built in hazards and a multi CD changer? That's what I still have but I don't have any traffic announcements :nenau

Yes she has the original radio, with tape and under seat CD player, with the Hazard switch built in... The LCD display is completely shot though.

Anyway, now the car is back home, I found out that unlike mine, Suz's car does actually have a handbook hidden in the back of the passenger seat, so I thought I would RTFM....

In the manual, it does show the little clock symbol, but does not mention it anywhere...

Now to the Pongs.... we both agree it does 6 to 8 pongs, but the only place I can find any mention of the radio beeping is under traffic announcements, and it says it will do 3 warning Beeps if it can't find a station doing traffic announcements... So I guess Suz is sort of right (bummer, I'll never hear the end of this), it is to do with the traffic announcements, and I guess it was because it could not find a signal in the Dartford tunnel. I take it she goes through a dead spot on the way too and from work as well.

So is it connected to the clock symbol then and has the symbol always been on?

i`d say it`s Traffic Announcement my dads 2004 t2 went hay wire a few years ago and started ponging and turning radio on and its definitly a "pong":lol
then it carried on ponging now and again but stoped turning the radio on:nenau doesn't do it anymore:thumbs

I don't think there is a connection, the clock symbol has always been on since we got it.
