T2 lock stops

Hi when these are worn can you just buy the plastic caps and if so where can i get some from(mail order if nes) as my local NISSAN garage want a fortune and only have the full nut bolt etc.

I have seen them online for £15 per set, which is expensive when you see what they actually are!!

Check out the links section of this website for cheap spares.

Others on this site dont replace them - just grease the lugs well.

Out of interest what price were you quoted?

Just to let you all know. I got 4 steering stop nuts from a nissan dealership (Charles Hursts) for £13 today.

for some reason one of mine staring wearing and split The traditional clunk apeared but the other three ok all quite new and none on long.

Pissed off so good slap of grease and sorted. Its possible you dont even need to change them !

Simpe lock-stop solution

I've not had plastic caps on my T2's lock-stops since I bought it but after reading the threads on the subject I made a simple 'work - around' solution. Use a short piece of strong garden hose, heated and forced over the stop 'bolt', just protruding beyond the bolt sufficiently to stuff the open hose end with grease - 'hey presto' no more graunching noise on full lock. Crude but cheap and effective.

Interesting that you said this - two were replaced a couple of weeks ago by a garage but they did not grease them up and even with the new stops in place the car clunked. I applied grease to the new ones when replacing the others and bingo - no clunks.:thumb2.

I think it is a case of greasing them everyfew months or sooner in the wet weather.

Youre right, the parts guy at our local dealer (probably the most sensible chap in there :thumbs maintains that on a Terrano you can get an instant hint that someone switched on has serviced it because..............yup grease fitted.
