Just a thought.....great idea it seems......how with this fitting react to offset winching tensions...on what is a relatively small square fixing on a potential lever....:nenau

You would surely have to ensure every pull was 90° to winch every time.....:nenau

Direct straight line pull, with high tensile fixings I can understand......

There would be two pins if I did it. I think the further the end of the receiver is from the point it is attached and the strength of the material in general dictates what the max angle would be. I will be bearing it in mind though :thumb2

If I was to be thinking along the lines of a removable winch then it would be a twin socket affair at least as wide as a standard winch tray, preferably in line with and fixed to the chassis rails, and the box would be mild steel heavy gauge 4 inch or thereabouts box, wall thickness 12mm minimum, Rick

Hey Blockster :D I saw this and thought of you, bet you've had a few eh :naughty

I have a set of five steel wheels which I am going to paint and fit at some point, I'm wondering whether or not to widen them though, will 10.43 inch tyres be enough for 8 inch wide rims??
If I widen the the rims to 8 inch it will effectively add negative off set to them too which is what I want, that plus the already negative off set should be about right then! I just dont wanna make them too wide to suit a 265-75 16 tyre (10.43 inches) and I don't wanna go bigger than 265-75 16.

I've got 265s on atm. They look a little balloony but have been great. No issues with the extra width neither:naughty

This is how stuck I got the other week, I smacked it in right upto the buffers too, I think I need to make them out of high tensile stuff next time :doh

Inspired by our resident internet celebrity jay666d I decided to erect my tent in the front garden :naughty I was given a tent last year by another member on here, donsimon, who is famous for other reasons :p but I haven't used it yet. He said he hadn't used it much and when I opened the bag it was in brand new condition, everthing there and even an unopened bag of spare bits, the only signs it had been used where a bit of grit and an empty condom wrapper with a bit of woolstuck to it in the bottom of the bag :nenau:nenau

It is like new though, I found it quite easy to put up and best of all it has a inner tent for the bedroom to help with condensation :thumb2 I'll put some pics up, its a trial run though so don't expect miracles, I left my tent pegs behind so I have just used some sawn up bits of cane and havent pegged it down everywhere, also tried one of the two new airbeds I got from ASDA, £10 each.
