I'm new to the club, but know that the Patrol 160/260 is a little short on posts lol. So first post on electrical: I have found to my horror today that my hazard warning lights are not working, now without a wiring diagram its a case of feel for the switch working, easy said than done with so many under bonnet and a few under dash. In the end a possible relay is a 24V 98-140w, Guilera Electronica relay (made in Spain) pic added. I've had Nissan's in the past and know that some parts are interchangeable, the question I suppose is what parts can be used and from what model. It's going to be hard to find parts isn't it lol

If your direction indicators are working, I think I would be looking ate the hazard switch, but I have not looked at the wiring diagram, Rick

Relay flash rate ?

I am no electrician but...

That relay is 24 volts /140 W so the flash rate is based on a maximum 5.83 amp loading if you plug that into a 12 volts vehicle it is unlikely to flash at anything near the correct rate as you would need for Hazard Lights. (As you will know if one of your indicator bulbs fail the remaining lamp flashes very fast due to lack of load in the relay)

Usually it's the operating switch that fails they often do not click out when you switch them on. This is commonly caused by sun light baking the top of the switch and the internal just fall to bits.

Some of the old patrols are a 24 volt set up Ted.
I know Rob(Barrbeast)'s is.
Have you tried matching the part on any electrical parts websites?
Durite, auto electrical parts and vehicle wiring products are the main ones i use for parts.

24 Volts wow !

I live and learn - have never come across 24 volts except on HGV type vehicles.

It's so he can boil the water in the door pockets quicker.... posh git :lol

24 Volt that must restrict Radio Options unless you can wire it up from one battery, I assume it will have two 12 volt ones or can you buy 24 volts ones?

It's not that long ago when it was not uncommon to see vehicles with two 6 volt units in series to provide the larger capacity for diesels.

Not at all, you must not draw from one battery in a pair, you use a voltage dropper devise that draws from both so both discharge equally, readily available, Rick

Two 12v in series. I've got a very good voltage reducer for the stereo, CB and USB charge points. There's a factory reducer which feeds the 12v socket and I think the dials but it's too low capacity for a modern stereo.

Lights, starter, alternator etc are all 24v. Starts great in the cold :thumb2

I laughed at this so hard last night I forgot to reply :lol :lol :lol

I can't wait for him to belly this one out :augie

Not heard of Durite before, looks a good site I will have a look once I get some time. Yep she is 24 volts, two batteries, one either side of engine bay. Not even thought of the radio as yet, voltage reducer should do it, maybe a bit of fiddling around, but in no great hurry. So to answer some questions, I did the click test, and got nothing even with indicators working. Pulled the hazard switch apart, all good, so not switch. Eventually found the relay, by the fact it was getting hot and you could smell the silicon. I still don't have a wiring diagram, but I was able to get hold of SD33T engine service manual and 160 service manual, just not had chance to look yet. Thank you for all the replies, will keep you posted.

Talking about 24 volt system has just made me think of the stupid thing I did, looking round the car I noticed that the fog light was out, so I changed the bulb, got loads of bulbs, but come to think of it all 12 volt. School boy error.....will have to get 24 volt bulbs ggrrrrr lol. I'm not sure if I changed the indicator bulbs, a bit dull. So its possible that the relay maybe ok and its me being a div and not using 24 volts bulbs. Must remember 24 volts!

Update

Well, after trying to get the right relay, eventually I ordered one from Germany, cost a bloody fortune, guessing that 24 volts is always going to be more expensive. So relay works, indicators don't gggrrrrr, this could be due to needing a clean, as I noticed some have some corrosion on the contacts. All this just to get the hazards working for the MOT lol. Clean up will have to wait, feel like crap with some kind of virus. Stay tuned :)
