Has anyone done this from a Pajero Mk2 2.5 TD to a Maverick 2.4i Aspen?

I thought I'd have a crack this afternoon as the tyres are the same size on both.

Unfortunately the dimension of the central holes in the rims are different. This makes the rims on the Maverick too small to fit over the hubs on the Pajero :doh

However, I'm hoping that the nice people at my local tyre place will take the tyres off the Pajero rims and pop them on the Maverick's.

The Pajero will be going for spares n' repairs in a couple of weeks.

If anyone has any other suggestions then it would be great to hear them,
Bern

Probably cost you about a tenner a wheel to swap the tyres over. If they're good tyres it's worth doing.
I don't think the Pajero wheels would be any good on the Terrano without spigot rings to fill the gaps, although they're 6 stud so it might not matter ??
If your Pajero seats are good maybe you could fit them in the Terrano ? Mine are awful, and I'm not the only one with that opinion ! Got them padded out with some memory foam and two sets of seat covers !

11redrex,

Thanks for the heads up on the spigot rings and cost of tyre swap.

I was going to have a look at swapping over the drivers seat from the Pajero so your comments have confirmed my thoughts on that.
I will be taking out the passenger seat anyway as that's where Daisy, my Rotty, sits as she's not as fussy as me. :D
I use her as my car alarm when I'm working in various large gardens. ;)

The rear ones will go too so I can put my kit in the back - the Terrano is a shade longer, from the back of the driver's seat to the rear door, than the Pajero so that's a bonus

Cheers,
Bern

if your getting tyres swapped go to a part worn tyre place not a big quick fit type place, most of them will fix punctures for a lot les than a tenner a wheel and it involves the same amount of work. My t2 seats are fine, however in the TD's I find the drivers seat doesn't seem to back far enough but in the tdi's theres a little more leg room, how does that work?

You don't need spigot rings on 6 stud 4x4's, they are what is known as studcentric not hubcentric - ie the wheels centre on the 6 studs and are supported by them not by the centre of the wheel like on most cars. Likewise the wheels should be balanced using a 6 stud adaptor. Its not an issue really on alloys as the centre and studs will most likely have been machined at the same time and be true to each othe but with steels, especially aftermarket ones the centre hole can be off centre and even not round in some cases I've seen.

To help with the cost weigh in the Alloy wheels, Aluminium is about 70-80P per kilo. Also ring round a few places to see who is giving the best price!

Wouldn't worry weighing in Pajero alloys, just stick em on ebay.
They'll easily sell :D

re what terranosaurus said, that's what I've been told before, but I didn't really believe it.
And re that again, I'd just stick the pejaro wheels and tyres on the terrano, and sell it as needing trailering away or wheels not included, something along those lines.
Are the offsets on the Pajero wheels suitable for the terrano ?

I've had quite a few s/h paj alloys. They all seemed to have different offsets:doh
However I found they all fitted no worries:thumbs

Strewth you're right it is worth the £10 (or 12 Euros) subscription.

I'm feeling right at home amongst so may people who are as "careful" with their money as I am. :thumbs

After all the advice the rims & tyres from the Pajero are definietly going on the Terrano.
I'll have a look at swapping the drivers seat as well.

I'm not sure what to do about the Pajero at the minute.
It'll take me 2 weeks to do the swapping as I only have Sundays free.
I'm thinking of weighing it in as I don't have the time to ebay it.
If anyone knows anybody that wants a MK2 2.5 TD for spares or repairs then feel free to pm me. It's currently running but won't have any Tax or MOT when it goes.

Many thanks for all the useful advice, :bow

Where about are you? I could be interested in the Pajero:naughty

i belive his in the Tewkesbury area....

um look at your members map!!

re what terranosaurus said, that's what I've been told before, but I didn't really believe it.

If you check the rear wheels/drums on the terrano you'll see that there is nothing for the wheel or any spigot rim to sit on anyway.
