stiff gear sellection

When setting off first thing in the morning, I find it difficult to select first and second gears. Once the engine as warmed up everything is fine. I had a 94 L reg terrano previous to this one and had the gearbox rebuilt, funnly when this came back from the garage it did the same thing. eventualy it went noisey over time, Ihope this one isnt heading the same way.Has any one any sugestions ?

Change the gearbox oil for a preferably synthetic 75W/90 GL4 or a semi synthetic oil, this will not go as thick when cold, keeping a more constant viscosity.

If you use too thick an oil it causes problems when cold like you say.
I use molyslip in my gearbox, there are a lot of threads on this, it really quietens the box down, and makes gear changing a lot smoother.

Thanks for your replies gents . which is the best one out of the two?. also not sure where drain plug is and how much to put in?. whats the best way to go about it?.
