sticky acc pedal

My pedal is sticking once again, I have given it a spray with wd 40 but i would like to know just which bit is causing the problem as I think grease might be a cure. Has anyone taken the assembly to bits and found just what is sticking...regards...bri

Have a look inside the vehicle and see if anything has hooked up or jammed like a mat etc. you should be able to oil the assembly behind the pedal.

Then have a look under the bonnet and see if any of the cables have been caught up or kinked.

Hello wildbri.
I know there are losts of postings about sticky accelerator pedals , mine included. After wrestling with the same problem I found that ,after trying lots of "lubricants and soapy solutions" the best and most long lasting was a good spaying around the whole accelerator mechanism with a silicone aerosol ( HALFORDS )
WD 40 is a good water repelant and rusty bits penetrant but a lubricant it ain't.
Seems to me that it's the nylon cord on the spool which becomes dry and binds against itself and the spool. Silicone spray has done the trick for me so it gets a shot about every 6 months and all stays smooth.

thank you gents, I will get some silicon spray found it very useful when I was a service engineer. I also used to use a silicon grease, this spayed out of a can and then slowly turned from light oil to a grease, very useful as it ran into the joints before turning thick. regards.....bri

sticky throttle

you have proberly got a fly by wire throttle ie no cable. Take it off and clean, lube with light grease guarantee it will improve it 100%.If you need any help just shout. andeone

thank you andeone, it is the fly by wire, I have used the silicone spray but \we did 200 miles yesterday and it came back. Looks like I will have to strip it
