Alex did you fill it with oil before you mastic,d that plate on? needs to be full of oil to keep the top bearing lubed, and might need a small air hole drilling near the top, Rick

What he said ☺ Sorry guys I'm working away from home at mo on site. Not a lot of G here. So can't engage as I'd like. I have one other kit pretty much ready to go but no time to do the box mod till weekend.
I'll update costs and that then.

wot

That's a question for Pete, it arrived liked this. :nenau

I'm sure we can think of something if need be :lol

I'm.collecting those pesky bolts tomorrow from a local shop hopefully...

Rick the box is not filled. Plate was a last minute job . It is oiled but as you say needs filling with some heavy oil I guess. I reckon the easy way is to drill and tap for a bolt . On the rhs above the mastic Ed hole there is a small hole pre drilled but not all the way through.
That or undo the plate and reseal after oiling. The one on my truck I simply greased the bearings and it's been fine.

I filled mine with gear oil before I put the cover plate on.
Pete when you get the chance could you give me a price for the tie bars and tapered bolts:thumb2

With mine I just packed it with grease. Even thought about putting grease nipple in it some where

Now that's a sexy idea!!!! Is there anything that should stop me from having a plate welded on? I'd rather something permanent like that as I can't have the car unnecessarily leaking from anywhere these days.

Grease Nipple on the top is a good idea, man I've got so many nipples on my truck now :naughty

Is that a veiled reference to there being a tit inside it?

(Just kidding bloke, just couldn't resist! :thumbs)

sad to say it all did not work today, basically the rose joints do not have enough angle to cope with Alex low droop, if I had fitted them, then the first deep pot hole he went in would of strained them beyond safe limits and may even have broke, I will be looking into this but feel an angle on each track rod rose joint could cure it, but as this is stainless would not want to try and bend them myself as I know from experience that stainless is rather less forgiving than steel and would not want to be responsible for a major steering part failing, so will be PM ing makeitfit direct to see if they can be manufactured with a bend, so anyone doing this mod stop now till we get it sorted, Rick

I thought Pete had got this set up on the pearl and it was tried and tested??

cannot say, maybe we have a different set up, but it did not work on Alex's motor , I have a 98 on blocks that I can test on, just need to remove torsion bar then I can go top to bottom freely and check angles, results to be posted once I have done, but bit busy at the mo, Rick

Yes unfortunately we were quite a bit off, still I'm sure all will be rectified in the end. :thumb2
