Hi peeps,
Well i have an issue with Starting my terrano 2.7 tdi:doh
when it start's it runs spot on, drives really well cant fault it.
it spins over for a while before it fires up. its about 10 secs spinning over,
when it fires up it blows a bit of white smoke! about 2 to 3 secs it clears up and runs great:confused:
when i Stop it, say i leave it about half an hour or so, same problem occurs.
things i've done in the last few weeks are; new oil and fuel filters twice:eek:
put cheap fuel filter on 1st but wasnt happy:naughty and put a better grade of oil in. put 2 none return valves on, good ones feed and return next to primer pump. glow plug's work fine put them on battery! and they worked well,
also checked the relay it works fine, it comes on and off as it should.
power going to heater plug rail, added a push button direct from battery to plugs.
it had a new battery last year and new glow plug's.
Took the crank sensor out and cleaned it up, thought maybe a bit of crap there. there was not much thou. poked myself in the eye a few times now:eek:
stressed lol.... It just Flew it's MOT about 2 weeks ago!!! so im outta idea's:(
engine does spin over well. the previous owner put new Starter on..
im convinced it air getting in fuel system but the valves i've fitted would stop the fuel going back to tank. it goes too well to be Air Flow meter.(maf)
any help would make this fat welsh bloke happy namely MEEEE:bow

If you can swop fuel pipe from filter to pump to clear, thats how i stater with air getting into fuel line,
Changed all pipe in the end

cheers for help guy's. same thing today seems to be getting worst with the weather getting bad...

White smoke to me means air in the fuel lines. Is the fuel filter sealing correctly as I've heard the cheaper ones can be a pain to seal. As zippy says the fuel pipe, also the fuel lines front to back too.

hi, yep put a better make filter on and double checked. looked all over for leaks of fuel but nothing i can see. so i will be putting clear fuel line on it this weekend. to check for bubbles lol..seen a fitter in my work today and he said the same as you guy's. deffo air in system because of the white smoke.
But he thinks it may be a primer pump problem too with the diaphragm.
cheers again guy's

just an update guys.
put clear fuel line's on the teranno today from primer pump to feed and return , and it was full of air bubbles:eek:
so hade a good look underneath" and seen a wet patch right up by the fuel tank, yep the dam metal pipe had rusted to a tiny hole...put a new piece of pipe in and the air cleard up. the teranno stated 1st time .
so hopefully i have cured it, ill know tomorrow:naughty
so thanks for all the help guys:bow
now i need to sort my leccy windows out. only driver's side works:doh

Just a quick thought, have you checked the passengers window isolater switch in the centre console, by handbrake,

might just be that one switch, locking the other switches out, apart from the drivers window switch which is on the door.....well it is on my 1998 model, later models i think are located on the drivers door armrest ...i believe

My switches are all on the drivers door being a MK4 but if I press the isolater switch none of the other door switches work
