Morning all,

I had my ignition backing plate changed out for a brand new one yesterday, sure enough the old one was burnt lol.

However, even after replacing, my ignition issue is still existing, allbeit less often.

So, the question is now, whats left to check and replace?

Just to go over what happens again, I turn the key, all lights come on fine and go off as they should. Turn the key to start and I just hear a click in the engine bay and no fire from the engine.

This is an intermittant issue and it will eventually start.

One thing I feel I should add, sometimes when it does it it will fire up but with a 1-2 second delay from turning the key?

ive lost tarck of what you have tried, but next job is the main positive wire and clamp, connection on the starter, solenoid and the starter itself...new starter is expensive however, but you can do it yourself at least!

dont know if this helps or not, my ignition had a similar fault, but soon realised that it would start on the release of the key instead. my starting procedure
1. turn key on until ignition coil light goes out,
2. turn key fully on as to start normally.....nothing happens on mine until i
3. relase key slowly....seems to start on the return......once engine fires, i find that i have no throttle response
4.turn key very slightly back. and hey presto now i have got revs.

never looked any further into this, it works for me but for how long i dont know.

WEll I'd be changing my ignition switch backplate if it was me.....if thats the root cause it WILL eventually burn out completely and strand you in the arse end of nowhere!

I'd agree but worth checking earth and other connections first.:thumb2
