On my old MK2 T2 it was easy to mount spotlights onto the front bumper:thumb2 but it doesn't look as if I can on this MK4 due to how far he grill comes out & don't have an A bar if anyone has managed it can you put some pic's up please:thumbs
I've got some 6mm alloy checker plate in the shed & thought about using it to make some brackets for the spotlights to mount onto bit like the 80's Fords but would it be strong enough to hold an 8" light ? not sure if it would clear between the bumper & grill so the only other option I can think of is for them to come out of the gaps either side of the front number plate:augie

I made 2 brackets out of 50mm x 5mm ally flat bar that bolted to the bumper and followed the shape of the bumper under the grill.
Will have a look for some pics for you mate :thumb2
Not the best pic but gives you an idea.

Thanks elty:thumb2 I take it you drilled behind the grill & through the plastic part of the bumper into the metal bar under it ? Wife was on about getting me a pair of Hella 3000 8.5" spots:D

Yeah I drilled 2 holes for each bracket and picked up on 2 holes that are already there where the plastic is fastened to the steel inner bumper.

Me want, me want:lol

On my ever expanding wanted list is some lamps for the front, especially for the older truck.

Just go straight to a Cree light bar. Easier to mount and brighter than round spots. You could fit an 18" nicely across the front there.

I have thought about it:thumbs just comes down to money & clearance of the front grill tbh but will still have to make up some mounting brackets thou:augie

Money is a problem, but you pay a fair bit for a good set of spots, so not much more for the shorter light bar. The thing with the light bar is, if you get the right one, the mount can go in any direction, so you could have the mounts sticking straight back, and fixed to the grill, instead of the bumper.

Did you suffer with the lights wobbling when going over bumps etc?

So glad Sweety has started this thread as it's saved me doing it

Not really as they had a rubber dampening washer on the base of the lamps.
